Shuttle Containers by Ami Kealoha
Stefan Diez' Shuttle containers fall into the category of "Practical Yet Elegant." Interchangable lids (in either porcelain or plastic) with rubber seals switch up the function of of the dishwasher- and microwave-safe borosilicate (think thin Pyrex) glass containers, which come in five different sizes. Produced by Rosenthal-Thomas, uses for the cylinders include airtight storage, drip-free cruets, self-closing carafes, and an ergonomic, rotating juicer. Attention to "the language of shape" and a palate restricted to grey and white make for eye-pleasing aesthetics as well.

Magppie Bottle Opener
Karim Rashid-designed bottle opener from Magppie (yes, it has two Ps). Sure, it looks like a space-aged Weeble or Gloop and Gleep from the Herculoids, but this elegant device does a lot more than worry about falling down. Its ergonomic design sits comfortably in your hand, while the splash of orange in the groove adds just enough color to give this piece a hip...

Vintage French Soap Hook
by Passa Chattra After realizing this wasn't an egg screwed into the wall, I had the "ah-ha!" feeling upon learning it is in fact a vintage soap hook. Made by Pro Ven Di, it was originally designed for French public school bathrooms and adds a little charm to a daily (at least, we hope) process. The solid chrome bracket can be mounted near the...

Butter Bell Crock
A recent well-loved addition to my own kitchen, a butter bell is a ceramic dish with a simple ingenious design that keeps butter at the perfect consistency for spreading while also preventing it from turning rancid. The bell-shaped lid holds about a stick of butter and stores away into the crock creating a vacuum seal when filled with a bit of water and keeping...
