Cool Hunting
The much-hyped new mhi skateboard decks have arrived at dpmhi in time for late summer fun. From the Autumn '06 mhi collection, the "C.R.E.A.M." deck appropriately features a pattern made from Canadian bills and the "mhi de lys" is an updated fleur-de-lys. The other two boards in the black-and-white series feature graphics by artists Mark Gonzales and Futura. (Look out for Gonzales' show and toy release at dpmhi this coming October.) Also recently-released, dpm teamed up with Destructo on eight limited-edition trucks and coordinating boards. The six camo trucks will be launched monthly, starting with the Tibetan Elemantal Tigerstripe.

Named after 80s skater legend Mark "Gator" Anthony (who's currently serving time), designer Mike Giles, 28, (a skater himself) thought it'd be fitting to name this birch veneer digital clock (pictured) after the infamous figure. The piece, initially crafted from a thrift store clock and featuring a hard-to-find LED display, is the debut item in their new Montreal-based furniture line called Furni that he...

Look out for upcoming editions, "East"...
Dbclay replaces gooey duct tape with one continuous piece of durable, matte Gaffer's tape. Further upgrades include waterproof nylon lining and exteriors emblazoned with designs like spray-painted stencils, limited edition, hand-painted patterns, and photo imagery. The result is a grown-up version of its predecessor that looks good, adds functional design elements, and retains the novelty and surprise that comes from an inventive use of materials....
NYC-based artists Markus Linnenbrink, Fred Tomaselli, Marilyn Minter and Phoebe Washburn collaborated with Artware Editions on an environmentally-sound (and avant-garde) alternative to the living Christmas tree. Each artist came up with a die-cut vinyl wall sticker of the life-sized trees that are the mainstay of the yuletide tradition and the results bear the mark of their creators. Tomaselli's tall and skinny version (above left)...
