Cool Hunting
From bear-shaped license plates the whimsical Ball-B-Q, and even the Newfoundland, examples of innovation, spunk and style abound at the Canadian Design Resource website.
The newly launched site showcases Canadian design past and present, and is intended as a resource for all types of design and designers. Site founders Michael Erdmann and Todd Falkowsky (of the Toronto-based design collective Motherbrand) hope the site will allow Canadians and foreigners alike to "explore and nurture" Canadian design.
The pair asked designers, artists and collectors to contribute noteworthy examples to get the site started. The growing collection includes everything from fashion to ceramics, furniture to graphics and is a collaborative ode to the classic and the mundane. Readers will soon be able to contribute examples to the sites growing collection.

As longtime Muji fans, we were pleasantly surprised on a recent visit to see they've updated the site with a message expressing their tenets of true design. For a retailer that normally keeps to themselves, allowing their simply classic products to speak volumes in place of flashy marketing campaigns, it's a thoughtful marketing change. We're happy to see they haven't altered their philosophy, as this...
Erik Schedin is an online shop run by the eponymous proprietor out of Sweden. He specializes in selling an extremely select collection of seemingly unrelated products. The only connecting thread between them is that each item exhibits a distinctly clean, understated design. The project started four years ago when Schedin, then a student at Beckmans College of Design, began producing his own footwear. The...

The award-winning new product comes not only equipped with individually wrapped packs of medical supplies but with step-by-step audio instructions on how to treat a range of injuries. The idea is simple: combine the necessary supplies with audio technology. The result is comprehensive...
The Museum of Modern Art's popular design store added some clever new items recently, all of which aimed to help you further personalize your personal space. The Exhibit Your Art Pad (pictured at right) is a stack of sticky note pages that feature a stylized blue frame on the border. As such, anything you write in the center—whether a doodle or detailed painting—is immediately...
Generally, I resent being tricked by household objects masquerading as something they're not. That said, I'm hard pressed to get mad at this unassuming pile of stones. What appears to be solid rock is actually a cushioned wool rug. Each "stone" of the Pebble Carpet is hand-crafted of merino wool and attached with an internal cord. Designed by Ronel Jordaan in Johannesberg, South Africa,...
