Arrive Miami by Josh Rubin
Arrive Miami's attention to detail and commitment to serving this generation's travel-minded set is clear. Like Base, Arrive is a retail rarity in Miami; the not quite one year-old boutique features labels like Y-3, Loeffler Randall, Evisu, Cloak, Earnest Sewn, Nicole Farhi, LA Atelier, Red Monkey, Grey Ant, Cazal, Bell & Ross, and Rogues Gallery, among others. As the line-up suggests, Arrive's approach to fashion reflects a tempered philosophy seen in statements like "Exclusivity will be treated as a necessity and not a privilege" and "Fashion is merely an extension of self-expression; treat it with an open mind but never take it too seriously."

Montaigne Market
Montaigne Market in Paris blooms like a garden of fashion between the conservative, single-brand storefronts of Montaigne Avenue. As the first multi-marque in the city of lights, the store engineers a confluence of current and classic styles from Paris, London, California, and New York. The 4,000 square foot space encourages mixing and matching of designers in different price tiers, an increasingly popular strategy put...

Base
For better or worse, the Lincoln Road Mall on South Miami Beach is quite reminiscent of New York's 7th Avenue in the West Village. One shop however, Base, stands out from the rest by offering an exceptionally curated suite of both products and services. Owner Steven Giles says "we're less about labels and more about the ongoing (and less easily defined) culture of the...

A cross between gallery and gift shop, Design Collective fosters fresh style and original designs in the Twin Cities. Located in Uptown Minneapolis, the store gives local designers the opportunity for exposure by providing them with shelf space and marketing capabilities. Keeping things "designer-centric," Design Collective remains focused on nothing but local designers and facilitates relationships within the Twin Cities' artistic community. Due to...

Oxygen Boutique
Fusing together art and fashion, the mother-daughter team at Oxygen in London are part of the growing retail trend that's part gallery space, part boutique. Growing up the daughter of a discerning fashion buyer, Joanna Nicola developed an eye for new talent and refined attire at a young age. Her talent is evident in the shop's collection of sleek dresses and stylish ensembles, all...

The Green Depot
by Laura Neilson The much-anticipated Green Depot finally opened its doors three weeks ago on Manhattan's Bowery. Given the current economic climate (and the grim predictions concerning consumer spending freezes), it seems pretty risky for any new retail venture start up, but environmentally-focused stores/products seem to be one of the few exceptions. Reuters recently reported that despite the despite the recession, four out of five...

Droog New York Store
Joining the design elite on Soho's Greene Street, droog opened their multi-story NYC showroom, shop and exhibition space yesterday. Dutch designers Studio Makkink & Bey lent a hand with the interior, a space that blurs the lines between objects, store fittings and architecture with its House of Blue concept, which allows customers the opportunity to purchase parts or fixtures, like a working chimney, and even...
