Kshocolât
by Evan Orensten
We discovered Glasgow-based Kshocolât in London and have been grooving on it since.
From the distinctive and original flavors—Milk chocolate with Honeycomb and Vanilla and White Chocolate with Pepper and Lemon are not to be missed (even if you don't usually eat either)—to their well-designed packaging, these Scots have created a unique line of treats.
Check out Kshocolât's stores in Glasgow and Edinburgh, or find them in the U.S. online at Temper Chocolates, in NYC at Garden of Eden, and in the U.K. online at Orchard Web and at Harvey Nichols.
Deva Hair Products
by Ami Kealoha
With cult status among the curly-locked for gentle cleansing and conditioning that keeps natural waviness intact without frizz, Deva recently released a line that caters to other hair types as well. DevaCare, as the line's called, contains Vitamin C and Orange peel extract to retain moisture, and UV-inhibitors, making it an ideal summer choice for people with damaged hair. But the real innovation is in what they don't add; Deva products eliminate the lathering and dehydrating detergent (i.e. the suds) found in most other products in their quest to end American's addiction to lather. DevaCare No-Poo costs $16 for 12 oz. from Deva.
Camp Concierge
by Jacob Resneck
Imagine whiling away the afternoon at your lakeside camp in the northern Adirondacks when suddenly you get a hankering for crème brûlée. With a simple phone call, an innovative service based out of Lake Placid can deliver just about anything over land and water. It's called Camp Concierge and it's the brainchild of two young Adirondacker women who understand that escaping the city doesn't have to mean going without the conveniences and services of modern life. They deliver anything from spa treatments to restaurant reservations and will even stock pantries and kitchens before you arrive. "The whole idea," co-founder Brooks Reynolds told the Lake Placid News, "is that our clients make one phone call and we take care of it all."
Whothefuckiscristinatoledo?
by Leonora Oppenheim
From her web address, Whothefuckiscristinatoledo, it seems Spanish designer Cristina Toledo doesn’t have to worry about making a good impression. Maybe it's because she's designed the perfect accessory for times when appearances matter most. Her sleek magnetic felt folders are just the kind of thing you need for a job interview or when presenting that new proposal. Put one on the table before you’ve even started to speak and you're already ahead of the pack. They look smart, but anonymous, with tactile grey or pink wool felt on the outside and a black magnetic sheet on the inside, keeping your document safe and wrinkle-free. This minimal design is so beautifully simple and effective, we reckon you’ll get the job! Magnetic Folders are available from Vinçon's virtual counter.
Crispy Green Freeze Dried Fruit
by Evan Orensten
The height of summer is not usually when you think about freeze dried fruits, but these tasty snacks from Crispy Green are great all year round. Crunchy, tangy and tasty, these are handy for snacking, lunchboxes, hiking, etc., contain only 100% fruit with no additives or preservatives and come in apple, peach and apricot.
First the fresh fruit is frozen and placed in a vacuum drying device. Water from the fruit is removed while it is still frozen, and then sterilized. The newly freeze-dried fruit can be stored for years without preservatives. Learn more about freeze drying here.
Six pack bags of Crispy Apple, Crispy Peach or Crispy Apricot are available online for $7.99.
p.s. They make healthy treats for dogs too.
