Red Dot Design Yearbook 2006/2007
by Ami Kealoha
In honor of the recent publication of Red Dot's annual compendium of contemporary design, here are a few more off-the-radar picks from the most recent crop of designers that have the Red Dot seal of approval. Order your own copy from Red Dot for €78.

Aeroblade Bicycle
Designed to complement Spyker cars, the limited edition Aeroblade features a titanium frame, a Rohloff gear system that minimizes maintainance, and €12,500 pricetag. To get your hands on one of the 50 made, find a Koga dealer.

Updating the awkward scissor-like design that's been in use for decades, the Click & Blink is a pocket-friendly solution for those who want to curl on-the-go.
Stanley Donwood London Views Jigsaw
by SummerSeventySix
I think I like Thom Yorke better when he's with the rest of Radiohead, but I'm glad he's continued the long-term collaboration with Stanley Donwood for the artwork on "solo" album The Eraser. Donwood, aka Dan Rickwood, started creating the work called London Views, at the same time that Yorke began recording his album. Eventually it became a series of fourteen woodcut-style prints that fit together to create a twelve-feet long picture of London, and landmarks like The Gherkin, St Pauls and Big Ben, being destroyed by fire and flood. The section called Cnut is on The Eraser's front cover.
You can find more information at Donwood's excellent mini-site on London Views, while signed prints and other artwork by him can be seen, and purchased, at Slowly Downward. The fantastic wooden jigsaw pictured above right, though, is only available from London's Lazarides Gallery, where the artist exhibits. It's a limited-edition of 50, and sells for just under £100.
Thom Yorke: The Eraser
by Josh Rubin
You may have noticed the Thom Yorke ad we've been running on the site for the last couple weeks promoting his new solo album The Eraser. In addition to being fans of his work with Radiohead and loving the new album, we're grateful that the ad goes beyond the banner. If you haven't caught it yet, check it out here. It includes a great video interview with Thom.
The Eraser is now available for purchase at iTunes or on Amazon.

The Six-String Mat
by Ami Kealoha
For rocker yogis, Yogurt Activeculture is a new Australian line of yoga clothing and accessories with a playful sense of humor (see name). Their debut line features tongue-in-cheek tees with slogans like "Poser" and glittery iron on-like cobras printed on fine mesh and sheer jerseys. A rockstar alternative to solid-hued mats, their Six-String Mat (pictured) features a Fender with six strings—one for each musical note and color of the rainbow that corresponds to each chakra. For $50, you can get your own chakra-balancing mat from Yogurt Activeculture.
L’appartement
by Leonora Oppenheim
We like Barcelona design store L’appartement for its eclectic—yet cohesive—selection of art and design products. Their main objective is to promote the work of young innovative designers, making everything in the store fresh and exciting. The aesthetic is clean, contemporary, colorful and decorative. Each month L’appartement showcases a young designer’s work. This month features Japanese designer Hiroshi Tsunoda, a Barcelona resident, who's known for his simple, clever product design—particularly for the his distinctive light designs in the PH Collection. Running through 15 July 2006, there are only a few days left to catch Hiroshi’s show, so hurry along now! Next up it’s 5.5 Designers with their Réanim project. They call it the "medicine of objects," resuscitating discarded products to give them a second life. Sounds like they’ve got their fingers on the pulse.
