Jahan Khalili's X-Ray Lamps by Evan Orensten
Jahan Khalili is a Texas-based cancer researcher who enjoys making things with scientific objects he salvages, and old x-rays are a favorite. Quickly becoming obsolete as digital x-rays replace them, x-ray films provide an increasingly exotic material to work with.
Jahan's x-ray lamps offer a glimpse into an intimate yet abstract world. Have any of your own x-rays laying around the house? Send them to Jahan and see what he can make for you.
Available from Realm Dékor and on Jahan's Etsy page.

Milan Design Week 2008: Day One
While today marks the official first day of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the crowds were already chomping at the bit yesterday afternoon in the Zona Tortona, a satellite exhibition area that has taken on as much importance as the sprawling Fiera Milano designed by Massimiliano Fuksas. The weather on Tuesday was incredible, the sky an immaculate blue, and the press drifted in...

Nature Wallpaper
Swedish designer Camilla Diedrich aims to add uniquely natural elements into her mass-produced products. Her goal for Nature Wallpaper was to inject an intrinsic luminance using a single color. Or as she succinctly explains, "I have been searching for light without light." Her efforts resulted in repeating patterns of vaguely organic forms, which are cast in vibrant hues and resemble some sort of luminous...

Anglepoise Play
Among the newest, hottest creations in town at the London Design Festival this year, we happily noted that others were taking time to celebrate an old classic—albeit in new ways of course. Anglepoise, a lamp that's required little tweaking in the over 70 years it's been in production, is one of the brands that's found ways to playfully reinterpret their classic design as of...
