19.23 Tees by Ami Kealoha

19.23 fulfills the requirements of the holy t-shirt trinity. Colorways are muted and complementary, like one of the "paratrooper" designs (left), which features a rust-colored release print on a khaki tee. Most include a few lines of whimsical text in place of an interior tag, such as the Emma Rossi haiku in both English and French on the peacock (right) that reads, "Earth mostly water/Blazing with witness vapors/Primordial light." There's a lot more neo-romanticism where that came from, like a design that re-creates the classic broken-heart best friend necklace on two tees. Buy your own from 19.23, starting at $34.

Co-founders Perry Shimon, and Oliver Kupperhe seek to create quietly personal, everyday pieces that...
Original Fake Two Fingers T-Shirt
A deceivingly funny t-shirt from Kaws using his trademark Mickey Mouse-esque cartoon hands, it just about sums up the complicated set of feelings I have about New York City (and everything else) these days. (Also see Public School's similar expression of dueling emotions.) Available in black and white from We Sold Out for €65. via Highsnobiety...
Public School T-shirt and Jacket
Leading the way in grown-up street wear, Public School recently released Fall/Winter 2008, their second collection. We've been into their clean cut but somewhat edgy designs since the label launched last year; the quality materials and subtle details set them apart from the rest of the rack at Barneys or Fred Segal. Their new NY Hearts Me t-shirt (not available until next Fall 2008),...
