Busboys and Poets by Ted Cahill

Busboys and Poets, a restaurant/bookstore/coffee shop/bar/theatre/art gallery established in 2005, celebrates the unique cultural diversity of its location by creating a kind of progressive, "po-mo" salon for people in the U "who believe that social justice and peace are obtainable." Inside this inviting universe you'll find small living rooms, dining areas, banquet tables, all surrounded by rotating art installations, tasty food options served until the early morning, and a daily program of concerts and poetry readings on the stage. The bookstore has anti-bias children's books, multicultural titles, and many more from independent publishers and proceeds help support Teaching for Change, a DC source for literature and media that encourage children and adults to rethink the world beyond headlines. Rocked-out rockabilly, vintage dancing queen, pure country two-stepper, off-the-wall zoot-suiter—in Austin, anything goes. A blue oasis in a red desert, Austin has earned its keep as the South's most beloved laid-back music scene, a hot and hilly hub where individual style extends from a way of dress to a way of life. If you're heading there for SXSW it's imperative to know where to...
Refinery29: Palermo Soho, Buenos Aires
On the surface, the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo Soho bears a striking resemblance to its New York and London counterparts. But beneath the ever-expanding roster of boutiques, the sidewalk cafes, and the trendy eateries, beats a distinctively South American heart, one that has turned this area into the destination for both cutting-edge designers and traditional artisans. La Martina This 100-year-old supplier for Argentina's...
Origen 99.9%
On vacation you want to try the local cuisine, but what is the local cuisine? In Barcelona that problem is solved at Origen 99.9%, a restaurant and retail shop with three locations that specializes in “la cocina Catalana” or the Catalan cooking. Many of the dishes, such as the traditional "Little Octopuses With Chocolate" and a leek and almond soup made from a medieval...
Axe
A legendary fixture in Venice, CA, Axe represents the best in California cuisine. Drawing on the foundation built by Chez Panisse, their culinary friends to the north, Axe's menu highlights the flavors and textures of organic seasonal produce from local farmers, rather than using sauces and seasonings of more traditional cuisines. The resulting dishes, like a subtly earthy nettle soup, a flatbread platter with...
