Hope Forever Blossoming Vases by Ami Kealoha
Packable, mailable, and otherwise generally easy to transport, these plastic vases by the Japanese company Hope Forever Blossoming are held open and stable with water and fold flat when empty, making them as clever as they are usable. Filled with flowers, they make an excellent gift that safely minimizes hassle on subways and in cars. Or, slipped in a suitcase, they add a romantic touch to hotel rooms that's a far better alternative to balancing stems in water glasses.
Pick up a set of two for $25 from Flight 001.

Just across the river from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), a store called RISD Works sells a wide range of products all designed by RISD alums. The collection includes big names (who you may be surprised to learn went to RISD) like literary installation artist Jenny Holzer, the creators of the Family Guy, and Michael Cousins who co-founded Cousins Design, the award-winning...

Caddy
Wood & Wood Design, a consultancy firm in London, has hit upon the novel idea of combining a mobile suitcase with a walker. While the "Caddy" (as their product has come to be called) is designed as a mobility-aid, who wouldn't want a suitcase they could lean their weight on while careening across the O'Hare airport terminal in a frantic rush to make Gate...

Hanspree Televisions
One of the things that's struck our eye here at CES in Las Vegas are these fun and inexpensive television sets from Hanspree. They come in dozens of shapes and styles for kids, sports fans and design freaks and are well priced. While the occasional character or sports team set is not new, we like that Hanspree is producing a whole range of televisions...

My fantasy savings account was started for a Chuck Close commission. Then it was a jet share. Now it's for a Henk. Having logged several hundred thousand miles and several hundred hours traveling, you can't help but design your perfect suitcase. The mysterious Mr. Henk did, and it is an object to behold. It's a lightweight carry-on that you can sit on. Fully retractable...

The Architect's Bird Feeder
Designed by architect Doug Patt (he's also one half of bi-coastal firm Rootphi), the Architect's Birdfeeder is made of eight interlocking polycarbonate (think bulletproof glass) pieces. Like Rootphi's Flat Pack housing, the structural elements ship flat and require no tools or fasteners for assembly. The upshot is product that's fun to put together, easy to refill and clean and eco-friendly. It also looks like a...
