United Bamboo's After Evers Tees by Ami Kealoha

AnimalCollectiveT.jpg

Like legendary tees emblazoned with "This is Not a Fugazi Shirt", merch says a lot about a band. The latest in a series of curated t-shirt collections produced by New York label United Bamboo puts musicians themselves to work designing their own graphics. The included groups represent some of the most innovative and hyped artists of late with a heavy dose from the New York scene, including Black Dice, Animal Collective (pictured above), and LCD Soundsystem. The results, printed on not-so-soft tees with plastic transfers, range from the psychedelic doodling of White Magic to a brash statement that LCD Soundsystem softens with an embroidered dove. See LCD's message to the world and more after the jump.

Leading the way in grown-up street wear, Public School recently released Fall/Winter 2008, their second collection. We've been into their clean cut but somewhat edgy designs since the label launched last year; the quality materials and subtle details set them apart from the rest of the rack at Barneys or Fred Segal. Their new NY Hearts Me t-shirt (not available until next Fall 2008),...

We're loving the hand-knit sea creature keychains and the sterling-capped chapstick, but everything in the collection has a subtle wit about it and just the right amount of something special to make for a good gift. While they're not available...
AKA Tees
Even before Hot Topic pretty much ruined any kind of legit fandom, wearing a concert tee (unless is was a homemade "This is Not a Fugazi T-shirt" or Mr. Bungle's rare sort-of subtle masturbation celebration) was a sell out move. That's why we particularly appreciate U.K. t-shirt maker Worn By's AKA line of tees that pay homage to bands by referencing names they had...
D.A.N.C.E. T-Shirt
By now you've likely already seen and loved Justice's award-winning "D.A.N.C.E." video and you likely also noticed that several of the animated tees featured in the video might make a pretty good addition to your own repertoire. Fortunately, a user of the DIY t-shirt printing site Bountee took it upon themselves to interpret a version of the multi-colored zig-zag tee. (The shirt above right...
