While the name couldn't be more minimalist, the g's decor is anything but. This five-star hotel in Galway on Ireland's Atlantic coast opened at the end of last year, with its flamboyant rooms designed by milliner Philip Treacy. While the exterior is nothing to write home about, Treacy's move from headgear to hotel interiors is definitely eye-catching. In particular, the creamy Grand Salon, which is lit by 300 of Tom Dixon's mirror balls, and Gerry's Bar, signified by a neon sign that reads "This Must Be The Place". (Images of both and more pictured after the jump.)

New Irish boutique chain Monogram Hotels (obviously) is behind the g, and also has the d outside Dublin in its portfolio. Their press people tell me they don't have any concrete plans for any further hotels at the moment, but there will be additions in the future. My money's on the next one being the c. Just check a map of Ireland...

In the meantime, if you're on the West coast, and fancy staying at the g, an introductory rate of €220 per night for bed and breakfast in a superior room runs until 30 April 2006.

First installed in 2002 at other locations including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Leipzig, the Hotel is reaching its most stunning and coveted placement in the City of Light, oddly on the top of the 1930s...
Simplicitas 182 Gram Toiletry Bag
by Passa Chattra Simplicitas's clean and clever solution keeps your toiletries protected when traveling and conveniently hung when you arrive at your destination. Most toiletry bags are made of soft collapsible fabrics which are great for conserving space in luggage, but don't provide much protection to keep plastic bottles and tubes from exploding or leaking. The 182 Gram Toiletry Bag is made of durable...
Hotel Particulier
Nestled in a garden down a secret cobblestone path off Avenue Junot in Paris' Montmartre lies the impossibly charming five-room Hotel Particulier. CH had the privilege of staying there recently (courtesy of the hotel, which just opened its doors in June) and enjoyed the luxuriously appointed rooms and movie-perfect setting—the adjacent pétanque court being the cherry on top of the cake. With a well-curated...
The Globe-Trotter Conran Case

Made from the same patented, lightweight Vulcan Fibre used in all of Globe-Trotter's suitcases since they invented it in 1850, the material is meant to look...
