SVSV: A Form of War
by Josh Rubin
My favorite fashion-fuck-you brand, SVSV, is making a slice of their uber-exclusive, hyper priced items accessible in a new store that just launched 10 minutes ago. There's a selection of t-shirts, hoodies, hats and scarves in addition to these favorite porcelain bullet replicas.
Originally intended as a fund raiser to combat gun violence, proceeds from sales of the bullet pendants will be used to make sure we all continue to support Hurricane Katrina relief. Ranging in price from $300 - $800, the replicas are available in black or white porcelain, some with gold or platinum tips. There are .357 Magnums, .38 Specials, .44 Magnums, .45 Automatics, 9mms, AK-47s and M16s—only 100 made in total. Each one comes with a 27" black chain and a vicuna or cashmere pouch.
SVSV is part of the KDU who also publish The Royal Magazine—the 7th issue is out and it's not to be missed.
Needled: Tattoo Shoe
by Ami Kealoha
Needled recently found J. Shoes' leather slip-on with designs by tattoo artists that are hand-etched into the shoes and then burnished with oils and tattoo inks. Driving moccasins for the rockstar set?

Refinery29: Something Old, Something New
by Ami Kealoha
Sitting above Freemans, the quasi-secret restaurant well-known for its back-alley access and collection of antlers, Freemans Sporting Club is restaurant owner Taavo Somer's other passions: a made-to-measure suit showroom that is helping to revive the bespoke tailoring of yesteryear. A punk rocker at heart, Somer started the appointment only business out of a desire to wear something more subversive than the common vintage t-shirt and jeans. Using only deadstock vintage wools (much stronger than today's popular wools), Somer creates modern suits that are built for every day use and with a distinctive body and shape. Refinery29 takes a first look at the handsome suits and old world showroom, previously only open to family and friends.
FAKEWEAR T-Shirts
by Ami Kealoha
Fake is the new black? It is according to Bea Correa, the Dutch designer who last year introduced knockoff Louis Vuitton handbags with the word "FAKE" spraypainted on them in gold. Her new FAKEWEAR line takes the comment further by alluding to the authenticity of the wearer. Similarly subversive (or at least irreverent), a collection called Trash&Fancy that repurposes tees and sweatshirts to make legwarmers and blouses. The elegant designs look eminently more wearable than past examples of the cut-up tee shirt craze.

The Zutons: Why Won't You Give Me Your Love
by SummerSeventySix
With their canny use of sax, Liverpool's The Zutons are set once again to mix a bit of Mississippi madness with their Mersey roots to great effect. I'm a huge fan of their debut Who Killed The Zutons? and eagerly await the release in April of their second long-player Tired Of Hangin' Around. Stomping new single Why Won't You Give Me Your Love? is a great taster, featuring the kind of taut, sinister riff and rock 'n' roll handclaps that would make anyone dance and pout like a young, cocksure Mick Jagger. The video is also a peach, taking West Side Story as its inspiration. You can see/hear it here.
The band is playing in the U.S. this month, taking in SXSW in Austin, Texas; an NYC gig at The Mercury Lounge and appearing at the Coachella festival in California.
