WinePod

by Evan Orensten

Our friends at Thrillist "a free, 4-times-weekly email that sifts through the crap to find guys the best services, gadgets, gear, bars and restaurants in New York" wrote about the WinePod today.

More than just a home winery, the WinePod experience blends an online user community, expert advice from an on-staff enologist, and sophisticated software to help you understand and inform you about the process and variables of winemaking.

The WinePod holds 100 liters of vino, has a built in wine press, temperature controls, sensors, and wireless monitoring and controls (so you can make wine while you're at work!). The units will cost around $2,000 and will be available in Spring 2006. To get on the waitlist and learn more, check out Mozaic Wine.

On Saturday 18 March from 2 - 6pm at the adidas Original Store in SoHo, adidas will host an adicolor studio event to celebrate launching the White Series. Brooklyn-based artist KR (Craig Costello) will pre-customize 20 adicolor white sneakers, which will be exclusively sold at the store, on a first come first serve basis. KR will be at the store to tag the purchased pairs and will also be giving tutorials on sneaker customization.

Well known for his painting, photography and product design, Costello also hand-makes KRINK graffiti ink. Debuting at the event next weekend will be some new, large-scale sculptures by the artist.

Feature: Honolulu Highlights

by Evan Orensten

Dsc00139

I recently spent a few days in Honolulu. Though the rain kept me and a few friends off the beach we still managed to find the Aloha spirit (if Mai Tais and karaoke count). I couldn’t visit all the great stores and restaurants Honolulu has to offer, but here are a few finds to fill your time when you’re not on the beach or hiking through the island’s majestic scenery.

Full story after the jump.

360-degree plug outlets

by Evan Orensten

360electrical.jpg

These outlets have already made the rounds, but such an ingenious solution to a common annoyance deserves note here.

The story goes like this: Some bright chaps in Salt Lake City invented a solution to the low functionality of most electrical outlets by creating a socket that can rotate a full 360-degrees, allowing us to use our electrical devices from 18 different angles. Standard installation allows you to install or replace existing outlets quickly and easily (make sure you turn your power off first though).

These outlets will be available from 360 Electrical sometime soon (so they say). To be the first to know about their availability, sign up for their e-mail list.
