Superette: Nike Air 180 Billboard by Ami Kealoha
One of many events taking place worldwide to celebrate nearly 30 years of Nike Air technology, Swiss-based artist Peter Kienzle (aka Superette) was one of four artists tasked to create billboards celebrating watershed moments in Nike design history for the launch of Berlin's Air Max 360 lab on 26 January 2006. Kienzle, having previously worked in Germany, represented the home country (the other artists were from Austria, Switzerland, and China) and interpreted the iconic Air 180. (Pictured above in situ and after the jump.) The ads first appeared throughout Berlin when the lab opened.

Tom Schmelzer: More Meat on the Bone
The work of Tom Schmelzer is unequivocally conceptual, but the actual concept is often left up for debate. His previous work has dealt explicitly with American culture, including their Commander in Chief, but his upcoming solo exhibition, "More Meat on the Bone," subsists on veiled references. Take the installation "Caught in the Line" (pictured), which incorporates three Australian parrots, three bird cages, tank targets...

Sideways: A Smart Art Project
Known for their eco-chic automobiles, tomorrow Smart Car will introduce "Sideways: A Smart Art Project," a book that's in line with their counter-cultural identity and serving as the brand's creative anthology. Showcasing a myriad of colorful works of art, it's an inventive (and attractive) way to look at both the environment and contemporary motoring. Curated by top international magazines such as Dazed & Confused,...

Steven Harrington
Since we first heard about L.A.-based artist and designer Steven Harrington's work, he's apparently been busy. Some of his latest illustration recently reached my desk in the form of a beautiful holiday calendar from Daub and Bauble. Created at the Studio on Fire letterpress, Harrington's design features a proud peacock with Day of the Dead-style skulls. (Pictured above right.)Harrington, along with fellow artist Justin...

Windmove
As wind power gains popularity, the synchronized movements of windmills dotting large expanses are a pretty awe-inspiring sight. Artist Christoph Ernst takes the visual display a step further by installing colored LEDs in the wind turbine blades. The innovative public art project he calls Windmove began last night, 22 October, and will light up fields outside of Berlin through the end of the year,...
