Properly Chilled by Mike Reger
You may have noticed I have a very soft spot in my heart for all things chill (music specifically). I've been peeping in on Properly Chilled regularly. It's a great guide to the downtempo music scene/lifestyle, spotlighting not only the essential release reviews, label/artist profiles and other data on the genre but also exclusive DJ mixes and all kinds of other goodies. PC just turned 1 year old this January. Get to know it; it'll be around a while.

Grooves Magazine
Dubbed laptop rock, noise, minimalist techno, and disco punk (among other off-sounding terms), Grooves magazine covers a wide range of "experimental electronic music." The most recent issue includes profiles of DFA's Juan Maclean, the "goth-hop" pioneer Alias (Anticon), and reviews the emerging Oakland-based group n5md's Run_Return. Clearly geared toward electronic music heads, over 24 pages of reviews and a geeked-out section on the latest...

WAV Magazine
WAV is a heady mix of relatively unknown music and left-of-center politics, published out of Los Angeles, California. Its most recent issue, with a profile of DJ Rap (referred to as "arguably the world's #1 female DJ") and a piece about the other video directing Gondry (Olivier, Michel's geeky bro), there's plenty in its pages to keep the avid culture hound's attention. A casual...

Lego Hip Hop Album Covers
The progressive online publication, Format Magazine, just took playing with Legos to a whole new level with their collection of 20 classic (and some not-so-classic) hip hop album covers recreated with those iconic plastic Lego men. Shot in the Format studio by Nick Hanekom, and graphically produced by beat-maker Glen Manucdoc, the little Lego guys assume the notorious album cover poses once carried about by...

The Journal of Popular Noise Fall/Winter '08 Events
If CH was ever to go print, we'd like to think we could execute it with the same thoughtful elegance as the semi-annual audio magazine The Journal of Popular Noise, which is why we're excited to be sponsors of the latest issue's launch. This time around the limited-edition (only 300 are made) and letter pressed publication includes Climax Golden Twins, PWRFL Power and Linda...

Pillow Speakers
Surprisingly useful, these pillow speakers have the potential to transform sleeping experiences. Rather than getting up to adjust the volume or sleeping supine to accommodate headphones, with these two different systems listening is comfortable and changing volume is easy. Most importantly, sleeping partners will be undisturbed by your canned lullabies. From earplug specialists Sensorcom, the first of the models involves wrapping a belt-like band...

'Sup Magazine Issue 18
U.K.-based music publication 'Sup Magazine's 18th issue featuring cover stars The Kills has just landed at specialty retailers. The release coincides with the publication's 10-year anniversary and boasts profiles on two dozen other indie bands like Map of Africa, Tigercity and Le Loup (see last week's video for a sample), all done with no filler (i.e. Q & A style with thankfully short intros),...
