Omas Miku Fountain Pen by Evan Orensten

miku_omas.jpg

Omas makes wicked, covetable fountain pens. Italian in design and craftsmanship, they write like a dream and make writing a pleasure. The Miku is a standout, even among their many limited editions. The Manga pen pays homage to the Japanese artform in silver and enamel (450 pieces) and gold and enamel (40 pieces).

The two-tone nib is available in four widths, and has an additional Manga-style engraving, making it unique to this pen. This comes at a price, of course. The silver edition is $1,750 and the gold a hefty $7,450.

Available from Nibs and other licensed Omas dealers.

Designed by Maximillian Riedel (also responsible for leading the stemless revolution) and his father Georg and handmade by artisans in their Austrian factory, the leaded crystal vessels are all aerodynamic lines and dramatic dimensions. While the Swan (above...
Schimmel/Colani Pegasus Grand Piano
A collaboration between Italian designer Luigi "Allergic to Straight Lines" Colani and German piano-makers Schimmel in the late 1990s, the Pegasus grand piano looks like something you'd see on a Star Trek set. Updates to the classic form include a slightly curved, ergonomic keyboard (eliminating any need for the player to move their body), an electrically-controlled hydraulic lid (to control projection) and a fully...
