The Monster Mash

by Evan Orensten

monstermash.jpg

No, not that one. This Monster Mash is a battle of monsters created by 32 U.K. artists/designers. Each week battles take place at the Here gallery in Brighton.

It's down to the final four monsters, and you can vote for your favorite here. The finals will take place at London's Playlounge.

You can see all of the monsters and vote for the "people's choice" here. You can also buy a commemorate monster deck.

The Mash was created by the U.K.-based illustrators at Peskimo.

Suunto DS Series Dry Suits

by Evan Orensten

suunto_suit.jpg

Serious sailors will get off on Suunto's new DS Series Dry Suits. These X-Tex and Gore-Tex suits have individual trousers, smocks and jackets, which can be worn separately as needed given the conditions. What makes this system unique are the patented zippers and articulated hems that join the three pieces to create a whole suit that is completely waterproof, even when you are in the water. Optional boots and gloves can also be attached to complete the package. Available in several styles and sizes.

Omas Miku Fountain Pen

by Evan Orensten

miku_omas.jpg

Omas makes wicked, covetable fountain pens. Italian in design and craftsmanship, they write like a dream and make writing a pleasure. The Miku is a standout, even among their many limited editions. The Manga pen pays homage to the Japanese artform in silver and enamel (450 pieces) and gold and enamel (40 pieces).

The two-tone nib is available in four widths, and has an additional Manga-style engraving, making it unique to this pen. This comes at a price, of course. The silver edition is $1,750 and the gold a hefty $7,450.

Available from Nibs and other licensed Omas dealers.

Properly Chilled

by Mike Reger

Support Properly Chilled! Downtempo Music & Culture

You may have noticed I have a very soft spot in my heart for all things chill (music specifically). I've been peeping in on Properly Chilled regularly. It's a great guide to the downtempo music scene/lifestyle, spotlighting not only the essential release reviews, label/artist profiles and other data on the genre but also exclusive DJ mixes and all kinds of other goodies. PC just turned 1 year old this January. Get to know it; it'll be around a while.
