Stencil1 Minis by Josh Rubin

stencil1mini.jpgstencil1mini2.jpg

About two years back we put the word out about a Brooklyn-based graphics company releasing its first volume of graffiti stencils. Well, to keep you in the loop, a second volume is out and we're pretty pleased with the results.

Stencil1 has just released a new series of minis. While the first set was larger (8 1/2" x 11"), this edition of pre-cut mylar sheets is just 3" x 3" — perfect for your lapel. Check out new LA-inspired designs while you're there. Even the most talentless can decorate T-shirts, curtains, lampshades, your neighborhood, whatever.

You can even send in a pic of your handiwork, and they might post it on their site.

$25 from Stencil1.

Serious Stencilers
When we stumbled upon Stencilry, what we found was not just a stencil website, but something like a community of D.I.Y. fanatics. This livejournal-based site serves as both a resource and a gallery for stenciling enthusiasts. Those looking to make shirts, stickers and street art will find a wealth of fun designs to use (they've got damn near everything), and those who'd rather create...
Poetry Nightstand
A surefire way to impress that guy or girl you take home Friday night is to stack scholarly books on your bedside table, as if you casually dropped them there after breezing through some weighty tome on relational aesthetics or quantum theory. For those without the time or brain capacity, you may consider the Poetry Nightstand, designed by Marian Lassak. Although it's not a...
Phil Frost
A self-taught American painter, Phil Frost has a uniquely sophisticated style. He finds what many would consider to be trash—discarded wood, bottle caps, paper, windows and doors—on the street and carts it back to his studio transforming the found objects into works of art. In his most recent works, a topical layer of white covers everything with heart like forms, men with shields and...
