Stencil1 Minis by Josh Rubin

stencil1mini.jpgstencil1mini2.jpg

About two years back we put the word out about a Brooklyn-based graphics company releasing its first volume of graffiti stencils. Well, to keep you in the loop, a second volume is out and we're pretty pleased with the results.

Stencil1 has just released a new series of minis. While the first set was larger (8 1/2" x 11"), this edition of pre-cut mylar sheets is just 3" x 3" — perfect for your lapel. Check out new LA-inspired designs while you're there. Even the most talentless can decorate T-shirts, curtains, lampshades, your neighborhood, whatever.

You can even send in a pic of your handiwork, and they might post it on their site.

$25 from Stencil1.

Stencil Graffiti Capital: Melbourne
On the heels of other city-specific books documenting the phenomenon, the new monograph, Stencil Graffiti Capital: Melbourne, takes a look at stencil artists in the land down under. Organized into themed sections like, "Skulls," "Symbols," and "Sexy Ladies," it also includes artist profiles, reports on Melbourne's Stencil Festival (now in its second year), and highlights include a spread that surveys Banksy's visit to Melbourne....

Also the force behind HunterGatherer - a cross-disciplinary counterpart - the two have been responsible for MTV interstitials, animation and press kit design for Nike Considered (covered here), and have emblazoned wallets and skateboards...
Serious Stencilers
When we stumbled upon Stencilry, what we found was not just a stencil website, but something like a community of D.I.Y. fanatics. This livejournal-based site serves as both a resource and a gallery for stenciling enthusiasts. Those looking to make shirts, stickers and street art will find a wealth of fun designs to use (they've got damn near everything), and those who'd rather create...
Wave Books
Wave Books is a poetry publisher clearly smitten with books as objects. Born from the ashes of Verse Press in 2005, the independent Seattle-based press consistently produces volumes that reflect the care and consideration given to the poems themselves. There's no clear thread running through their diverse catalog — Wave, instead, describes its aim as "publishing the best in American poetry by new and...
