Cool Hunting
Before all of the chemicals and artificial compounds used in most chewing gum today, gum was made from the sap of the Sapodilla tree, which grows abundantly in South American rainforests (and other locations). The sap is called chicle, and the men who climb the trees to collect the sap are called chicleros. No doubt you recognize a brand or two that utilize these words. It's no surprise that as the contents of most gum moved from chicle, a natural and sustainable resource, to artificial, it has also impacted the community of chicleros because the demand for the Sapodilla sap has decreased.
Glee not only offers chicle-based tangerine, cinnamon and peppermint gum, they also offer a do-it-yourself kit. Part science lesson and part eco-chic custom experience, these kits also reinforce the virtuous values of sustainability and natural over artificial.
Make Your Own Chewing Gum Kits make around 50 pieces of gum and are available online for $10 from Glee. Refills available.

Don't get these HoneyBells confused with HoneyBell Tangelos. Though they look like an orange they are a rare and natural hybrid of Dancy Tangerine and Duncan Grapefruit. They are only grown in Florida, and are available only for a few weeks in January/February. They are incredibly juicy and full of flavor. We got our shipment last week at CHHQ and have been dripping on...

Case in point, Les Shooters from Montreal's first chocolate lounge and boutique, Suite 88. With adventurous flavor combinations, like Thai Coffee and Fig Port, made entirely from scratch using premium ingredients and a fudgey texture, Mari's Brownies are CH's kind of treat. We also like their refreshingly small size, making them a moderate indulgence rather than a "guess-I'm-skipping-dinner" kind. Neatly packaged in their signature Pumpkin-hued baton boxes and wrapped with custom ribbon, the dense, rich squares make perfect...
With everybody suddenly becoming allergic to everything, all kinds of new food alternatives are popping up. The latest we've sampled is a line of organic coconut milk-based "ice creams" and "yogurts" from Turtle Mountain. The same makers behind So Delicious and Purely Decadent, Turtle Mountain has already made a name for themselves in the world of non dairy treats. Technically called cultured coconut milks...
