ITP Winter Show by Josh Rubin

Itp-Wintershow-05

Mark your calendars because next Sunday and Monday is the Interactive Telecommunications Program Winter Show. The student work presented will include interactive art and sound, assistive technology, wireless devices and physical installations. ITP is a fantastic program that pushes the boundaries of technology mediated interactive experiences. It's also near and dear because some of us here at CH (myself included) graduated from there or are currently enrolled.

To get a sense of what ITP is all about, check out this review of last's Spring's show, and stories on projects including Cellphedia, Codeck, PacManhattan and James Clar.

Date and Time:
12/18/2005, 2pm - 6pm
12/19/2005, 5pm - 9pm

Location:
ITP, TSOA
721 Broadway, South Elevators to 4th Floor

This event is free and open to the public. There is no need to RSVP. For questions, contact itp.inquiries@nyu.edu or 212-998-1880

Our friends over at Hewlett-Packard are presenting the Art in Motion event in Sydney at The Forum on 6 December 2007. Art in Motion is a "free multi-sensory event" showcasing performances from Coldcut, Nu-Mark, and awesome Berlin-based collective, Pfadfinderei—featuring eight designers, VJs, artists and typographers—as well as local acts Apsci and DJ Samrai. It's all part of an initiative by Hewlett-Packard to "provide a...
Voiceprints by Pierre Proske
Inspired by repeating visual units in Japanese textile design Voiceprints, created by Pierre Proske, uses specially-designed software to translate voice patterns into a design. More specifically, Proske loops and analyzes frequencies to create an algorithm that organizes visual elements into a representation of a person's voice. Like a synaesthetic version of DNA11 prints made using genetic material, each spiraling abstract voiceprint is uniquely characteristic...
ITP Winter Show 2006
With winter in New York comes a fresh crop of the tech-based creativity coming out of NYU's ITP (Interactive Telecommunications Program). CH's looking forward to attending the ITP Winter Show 2006 to check out the wildly inventive projects like Kyung-Mi Kim's synaesthesia-based AV Brush, a device that interfaces with your body to help you relax by Sandra Villareal and Bio Manhattan, a group project...
ITP Spring Show 2006
Each ITP (Interactive Telecommunications Program) expo seems bigger, crazier, and more well-produced than the next. Last week's show was no exception with projects like the De-Painter, a machine that uses viewers' movements to generate paintings, and a Bluetooth person-tracking system called BlueWay. The digital readout pictured above left is Robert Seward's trippy Consciousness Field Resonator that takes the concept behind Princeton's Global Consciousness Project...
