Stencil Graffiti Capital: Melbourne by Ami Kealoha
On the heels of other city-specific books documenting the phenomenon, the new monograph, Stencil Graffiti Capital: Melbourne, takes a look at stencil artists in the land down under. Organized into themed sections like, "Skulls," "Symbols," and "Sexy Ladies," it also includes artist profiles, reports on Melbourne's Stencil Festival (now in its second year), and highlights include a spread that surveys Banksy's visit to Melbourne. A mix of full-bleed photos and detail shots makes for plenty of images and what feels like a thorough overview.
Available for $28 from Mark Batty Publisher.

The Book of Tags
The Book of Tags, a 256-page hardcover book on the subject. Its pages further explore the debate as the authors note that tagging is "a phenomenon which stands on the thin border between art and vandalism." What started out in the '70s as a way for young people to mark their territory on NYC subway cars has burgeoned into a worldwide art movement. An anthology...

Stencil1 Minis
About two years back we put the word out about a Brooklyn-based graphics company releasing its first volume of graffiti stencils. Well, to keep you in the loop, a second volume is out and we're pretty pleased with the results. Stencil1 has just released a new series of minis. While the first set was larger (8 1/2" x 11"), this edition of pre-cut mylar...
