Sam's Yams by Evan Orensten

samsyams.jpg

Sam's Yams are a newly discovered dog treat that CH mascots Otis and Logan are all over. Having heard recently about more than one incident involving the healthy looking "green" chews that are mostly corn starch, and others about rawhide, these all-natural treats are all the more welcome. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but all of them are 100% dried yam. They are great for dogs, affordable for their owners, pose none of the choking/lodging issues of "green" chews and rawhide, and last longer than most other chews.

Licorice Piglets
Nothing says I love you quite like a box of piglet shaped licorice... Route 29 Napa makes a variety of tasty licorice, but my favorite are the black and red licorice pieces shaped like piglets. The bags are a better deal, but the can (16 oz for $14) is a great gift. The Chewy Peps have a nice balance of texture and flavor and...

Floating Garden, a new freshwater aquarium concept by Benjamin Graindorge and Duende Studio, tackles waste management, the primary concern of aquariums, with an innovative, 100% natural filtering system. By enlisting two forms of natural filtration, gravel-bed filtration and aquaponics, the set-up removes nitrates, thereby eliminating the need for harmful chemicals and frequent water changes. In the first instance, tank water flows over a tray where...
MPREIS Supermarkets
by Laura Neilson I know I'm not alone in my love for grocery shopping in foreign countries. It's a great way to get a sense of a country's consumer culture—not just by seeing what the people of that country buy, but also the particular ways that all the product are packaged and displayed. But what exactly does an Austrian MPREIS grocery store, self-dubbed "The Seriously...
