The FlowRider on the Freedom of the Seas
by Evan Orensten
When it goes to sea in May of 2006, Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas will be the largest cruise ship in the world. It will serve 3,800 (yes, 3,800) guests and an unknown number of staff to run it. Like RC's other new ships, the Freedom will have a rock climbing wall, an ice skating rink, a spa, shops, and several restaurants. But it also has something that no other ship in the world has—a FlowRider. Built by Wave Loch Inc. of La Jolla, the FlowRider is a recent (but not new) innovation in water park technology (video demo on their site). Similar to a lap pool, it creates waves and simulates current by passing 30,000 gallons of water over the ride surface. This will be the FlowRider's first installation onboard a ship, which is pretty impressive. It also promises endless lines for the opportunity for one "surfer" at a time to enjoy it.
Go East LES Guide
by Ami Kealoha
In time for holiday shoppers looking for an alternative to Soho madness, the Go East guide condenses an assortment of the neighborhood's shops, services, and restaurants into a take along brochure-sized pamphlet. The free booklet comes with a "Shopping & Rewards Program" card, giving users discounts at the featured locations and, after accumulating $500 in receipts, a $50 credit at top LES restaurants. From Orchard Street La-di-da boutique that carries some of New York's premiere burgeoning designers to the Reed Space, a gallery and something of an area institution that features streetwear, magazines, vinyl toys, and more, Go East makes the LES even more appealing.
Hulger Bluetooth PIP Phone
by Josh Rubin
Hulger, the manufacturers of the old school-meets-new school Pokia mobile headsets, have just released several new products. Most exciting is their sleek and simple '80s style headset called PIP. Whether you use it with your computer and Skype or with your mobile phone, it's guaranteed to start conversations. Available in yellow, black or white for £46 (wired) or £86 (Bluetooth!).

Another new style is the Penelope, which looks like a traditional '30s style handset with an eager little mouthpiece waiting to capture your words and shield them from the wind. Available in black, maroon or ivory for £50 (wired) or £90 (Bluetooth!).
All four models are available directly from Hulger
Taqueria Pendejo
by Evan Orensten
Abe Lincoln Jr.'s first solo show, "Taqueria Pendejo (El Sabor De Caca)," opens December 1st at the Orchard Street Art Gallery in New York City.
Best known for his street art, this show features his first installation, an "authentic" fast-food taqueria, which includes tasty "Super Pendejo Meals." The concept starts on the street, where "menus" are distributed, and includes new vector work, hand-rendered work, and t-shirt designs.
The show opens December 1st (Kidrobot is throwing the opening party and giving away toys to the first 50 people there) and runs through January 6th at the Orchard Street Gallery, 139 Orchard Street in New York. Open Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. and weekdays by appointment. Call +1 (917) 682-6753 for more information.
