Cool Hunting
Mini Traveller concept shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show was created as a tribute to the original 1960 Traveller. It's a good looking consideration for how to evolve a Mini to be a better schlepper. Yesterday, at the Tokyo Auto Show, Mini presented an updated Traveller, this time a design exploration focused on the 21st century motoring Englishman. The Mini Concept Tokyo, as they've been calling it, looks like the designers over at Mini have been smoking some Marc Newson weed from a Paul Smith bong. It's so quirky, I kinda like it. Lots of pictures and more details after the jump.
Brilliant silver paint shimmers in sunlight and turns flat gray in the shade. The sills and wheel cut outs are made from neoprene.
All four doors have suspension points and hinges with parallelogram kinematics swiveling to the side and to the front in one single movement, offering maximum access to the interior of the car.
The cargo roof houses both a table and two chairs.
White and brass leather in Chesterfield design detail the seats and green painted and unfinished aluminum make up the moldings.
The dashboard has a rotating center speedometer and appears to hover in space.
Can you say "pauL smith in the Sky with Diamonds?"

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a blimp...no, it's the gorgeous, futuristic-looking Stratocrusier, currently in concept form by Tino Schaedler and Michael J. Brown. Calling it a "lifestyle zeppelin," the duo designed the white airship as the latest offering in luxury travel that refreshes passengers instead of leaving them dry, dehydrated and jet lagged, a consequence travelers have come to expect. The key...
