In the PSP Wipeout Pure Artist Track competition between designers Neil McFarland and Jon Burgerman, we have a winner! With a lead of over 750 votes, Jon Burgerman's piece has been selected to run in the print campaign for the U.K. launch of the Sony PSP. Congratulations, Jon!

If you were unable to get past the log jam at the door to Sneaker Pimps, or if you just weren't in town, following are some pics from the event. The biggest so far, last night's NYC tour stop featured all sorts of crazy custom, limited edition kicks and an array of live performances.
Throw-yo

The Throw-yo is a new collectible yo-yo coming out next year. It is rumored to be influenced by "the evolving Yo-Yo sub-culture with street, cutting-edge fashion, art and music cultures." It is the collaboration of four talents: Professional basketball player Baron Davis, award winning National and World Spin Top champion yo-yo player and Buzz-on yo-yo company partner Dave Bazan, and the directing team of Coodie and Chike who are represented by A Band Apart.
So is this a post about a phantom product, the (partial) sponsorship of the 2005 National Yo-Yo Contest, or the fine yo-yos at Buzz-on?
What we can tell you is that everything other than the mysterious Throw-yo is very real. The five championship titles up for grabs at the 2005 Nationals deserve more attention than they will likely get. Buzz-on (left) yo-yos are fine precision made objects that have an aftermarket and are tough to get a hold of, and we'll either be played or made when the Throw-yo surfaces next year...
Ikea PS 2006

2 1/2 years, 28 designers, 42 pieces: The challenge Ikea set forth-- to produce socially and environmentally responsible products using simple (often reused, recycled, and repurposed) materials. By all accounts the designers succeeded, often brilliantly. Using fish nets, recyled packing crates, bamboo and Indian newspapers to mention a few sources, the designers have created a range of products that are functional (storage, seating, tables) and decorative (vases, fabrics, cushion covers).
Hella Jongerius has created the Jonsberg series of four large vases, representing four different cultures and continents. They are even engraved or painted by hand, and still only $39.99. This is about $6920 less than a similar (though very limited edition and handmade) vase available at Moss. Even if you can afford the handmade one you'll want to pick up one of these. They are that good.
The new Ikea PS website is equally impressive, with product details, games and videos of the designers speaking about their products. Each one has an interesting story behind it.
