Sahale Snacks by Evan Orensten

ksarBlend.jpg

I've been obsessing over these great snacks lately. Like Josh and Edmond, the creators of Sahale snacks, I've found most nut/trail mixes lacking inspiration and flavor. The four recipes (Ksar Blend is my favorite) blend the freshest fruit and nuts with spices that really bring the flavors out. Great in the lunch box, as an afternoon snack, or with drinks. Available at stores everywhere or online at REI.

Around $2.95 for a 2 oz. package.

TerrAmazon Snacks
In the infinite quest to find the most obscure curative health food, TerrAmazon makes a convincing case. With goji berries fast becoming a household name, the creators of TerrAmazon had to explore remote corners of the Amazon rainforest for their snacks. Take their Organic Yacon Slices, for example. Recently rediscovered as a superfood, the indigenous Andean tuber is sliced and then partially dried. The...
Danielle Exotic Fruit and Veggie Chips
by Maxwell Gold Not all dried fruit snacks are created equally. Danielle all-natural, preservative-free Crispy Fruit and Crispy Veggie chips are a step above most other snack foods. We love them because they are cooked in small batches and seasoned with just a touch of salt to bring out the full flavor and to ensure superior taste. We're especially enamored with the thick-cut Crispy Banana...
Pop Chips
On a recent road trip we tried some Pop Chips and were very pleased with their light and crisp taste. Even better, they are not fried (fat and oil) or baked (dry and tasteless). Instead, Pop Chips use a combination of heat and pressure to create a healthy but delicious snack. We enjoyed the Parmesean Garlic Potato Chips a bit more than the Wasabi...
Eight Salty, Sweet, Mouth-Puckering Licorices
by Karen McGrane Licorice seemed wrong and bad to me as a child, one of those things like coffee ice cream or kissing in movies that made me deeply suspicious of adult desires. As my tastes have matured so has my preference for licorice and I seek out only the darkest, chewiest, and most complex flavors. Used as a sweetener and a medicinal since ancient...
