Art Prostitute 6: T-shirt Weekend by Ami Kealoha
A two-day event this September 17 and 18, at Williamsburg gallery Riviera, celebrates Art Prostitute's 6th issue by giving away exclusive tees designed by Los Angeles artist Luke Cheuh to the first 25 purchasers of the book. Printed on Eames paper (inspired by the couple's work and philosophy; check out Eames Office site for a nerdy Rebus if you need to waste some time), the edition comes with unfolded prints, features work by The Clayton Brothers, Seonna Hong, Florencio Zavala, and Brendan Monroe, and is also available through Art Prostitute's website. The NYC release party compliments a show of more tees from lines by two Brooklyn-based screenprinters, 1AEON and YES Labs.

Jared Buckhiester
Jared Buckhiester is an artist who draws, photographs and makes t-shirts. His art tells a dark and homoerotic story of boyhood grapplings with sexuality. While the imagery on the T-shirts is not as explicit, the theme is still there. All designs are printed in limited editions on 100% cotton, hand dyed Ts. $84 on his site, or at Nom de Guerre in NYC....

The result is an online gallery, book and exhibit of work from Neville Brody, Pete Fowler, eboy, Rinzen, Michael Gillette and others. Each piece is on a 1 meter square canvas. While the topic may seem a little hoakey, the work is rather outstanding....

Tamara Kostianovsky: Actus Reus
"Actus Reus" is the debut solo exhibition of Tamara Kostianovsky, an Israeli artist raised in Argentina and currently living in Brooklyn. The show consists of life-sized animal carcasses painstakingly reconstructed using second-hand clothing, which are all former pieces from the artist's actual wardrobe. The patchwork constructions adopt a remarkably grotesque quality, hanging from meat hooks in an antiseptic gallery space. The exhibition's Latin title...

Mandala, a Sanskrit word of Hindu origin, most often refers to a symmetrical detailed pattern representing the universe and the unconscious self. In some religions it serves as an aid in meditation or to establish a sacred space as well. For Japanese artist Mario Tauchi, who illustrated 108 black-and-white versions of Mandalas for Trolley Book's "Mario Mandala." the motif plays a slightly different role....
