Hana Iverson and Sabine Seymour have just wrapped up their extensive report on Ars Electronica. This year's Ars, called "Hybrid: Living in Paradox," was curated by Derrick de Kerckhove, head of the Marshall McLuhan Program at the University of Toronto. A bit about Hana and Sabine is below and their report is after the jump.

New media artist Hana Iverson is currently the Director of the New Media Interdisciplinary Concentration at Temple University. Her work spans digital, video and sound media and has received support from such institutions as the Covenant Foundation, the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, and the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).

Sabine Seymour, Adjunct Faculty at University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz/Austria and founder of the course ‘Fashionable Technology’ at Parsons School of Design, concentrates on on wearable/wireless technologies in sports, healthcare, design, and branding. She co-curated the "Wearable Experience" section at ISEA 2004, recently published Intelligent Wearables, presents at places like Viper and Cooper-Hewitt Summer Design Institute, runs her commercial entity, Moondial and website, Fashionable Technology. Sabine floats between New York and Vienna and is intrigued by the tension the dual continent living is offering.

Love Money Power

by Carol T Chung

LMP-Illustration.jpg

In a former sweet factory in East London, UK, resides a design studio known as Love Money Power. It was initially founded by four people, Richard Stott, Vincent Walsh, Sophie Copage and Brook Cronin. They currently add others to their team on an ad hoc basis depending on their projects, but hope to have a semi-permanent team in the near future. With a mission of personal freedom, early retirement and no 9 to 5, who wouldn't want to be a part of their team? Although they do take on commercial jobs, their own work explores social and political issues, such as homelessness. They recently had an exhibition entitled Going with nowhere to go. Much of their work can been seen on their website. Featured above is a sample of Sophie Copage's intricate and beautiful illustration work.

New Umbro by Kim Jones

by Josh Rubin

Coolestshop 1862 268878720

The latest shoes to come from the Kim Jones and Umbro collaboration are clearly the hottest so far. Throwing back to the 80s with a modern attention to detail, the checkerboard pattern is actually created by woven strips of leather. This colorway is my fav, but they're also available in orange-brown, all white and all black.
