Lovely Address File by Parker Hutchinson

foto_address2.jpg

As the modern world speeds towards complete digital integration, we're silently mourning the fact that some of life's simplest pleasures are thrown out the window in the name of progress. Just last week, our copy of The Sunday Times was pointed out as "analog chic," and even the post lady scoffed at my request to buy stamps for my paper correspondences. If you're as disconcerted as we are, Lovely's Address File may serve as a proper throwback to all this binary bedlam. Whether you're running Outlook or Address Book, this limited-edition delectable serves as a simple and stunning way to backup all your contacts. Its maple base houses 260 cards of found paper in various colors and patterns. Each file set measures 7" by 5" and is numbered as part of a short run of 1000. They retail for $75 at Lovely Design, home to numerous other analog delights.

Birsel + Seck for Herman Miller: Teneo
by Tamara Warren The classic filing cabinet has the admirable function of safely storing documents, but leaves something to be desired when it comes to form. (Think square, metal, heavy and bulky.) Addressing the problem, Herman Miller wisely brought in designers Birsel + Seck to conceive their Teneo line. The storage system recently received the Best of Competition award at Neocon for Best of...
Purisme Carbon Fiber Letter Opener
With the bulk of our correspondences now taking place digitally, it's no wonder letter openers have been relegated to the luxury gift category. But the humble object remains one of those iconic pieces of design; Enzo Mari designed a whole series of them for the Italian company Danese in the '60s. Now comes the advent of the carbon fiber letter opener. Designed by the Austrian...
Transparent Post-Its
The creators of the ubiquitous Post-it Note have improved this disposable yet indispensable piece of office stationery by introducing transparency. Sheer Colors, as 3M's calling them, are a boon for anyone who has ever used Post-its as a book placeholder. They're also good for anal bibliophiles who don't care to mar pages with notes or highlighting.via Bem Legaus!...
Muji Chronotebook
My favorite design from last year's Muji awards is the Chronotebook, a simple but effective daily planner. Rather than the standard columns, lines or grids, each page has an analog clock graphic. With time as the central structuring element, this daily planner is more flexible and helps with accomplishing tasks in a timely manner. Beige, minimal, with rounded corners and just small enough to...
