Gumball 3000 Live by Josh Rubin

Gumball3000-2005

The 7th annual Gumball 3000 is underway in Europe. This year the Cannon Ball Run style, drive all day and party all night rally begins in London and does a 3,000 mile European tour before ending in Monaco. There are over 100 vehicles-- some old, some new, many fast and a few driven by stars. My favorite is the Biodiesel Tourag driven by Daryl Hannah, Quentin Tarantino and Tina Basich.

Thanks to I4U for pointing out that as a sponsor, T-mobile is delivering live updates on each car's position.

The London Design Challenge
A participatory highlight of London's Design Festival, the London Design Challenge tasks members of the design community and general public with imagining ways to make London a better place to live and visit. With transport, entertainment, street-life, environment and housing themes, ideas so far include Poke's painting London white (an homage to This Boy's Life?), as well as Tom Dixon's electric bus and Barbara...
Honda Monkey Bike

First it was Honda's Zoomer (or Ruckus as it's also known) that impressed me with its pared-down Mad Max minimalism. Their classic Monkey Bike, updated from top to bottom in shiny chrome, has won me over....
Great British Design Quest
If you had to name countries famous for design, Italy or somewhere in Scandinavia would probably be the first places that spring to mind. But what about the U.K.? In the past century, British designers have hit the form/function bullseye more regularly then you might realize. London's Design Museum and the BBC's Culture Show are collaborating on the Great British Design Quest to discover...
The Knitting Machine
The Knitting Machine is Dave Cole's performance art piece that uses construction equipment and 20-foot long knitting needles to construct large-scale objects. Starting yesterday June 30th and throughout the weekend, the artist will use a pair of John Deere excavators to hold the needles and a Genie to wrap the yarn, creating an oversize American flag at MASS MoCA. The flag will then be...
