There’s a plethora of sites on the web that promise cool things, but there’s only one CoolHunting.com. Run by Josh Rubin with pieces by writer Carol Chung, CoolHunting.com investigates the places where technology and design intersect. Started up two years ago, the site garners around 100,000 unique visitors a month.

With all the other blogs on the net promising to deliver cool stuff, does Josh have to compete hard to find cool things? “I don’t feel like I’m competing, because I’m just looking for things I like,” he said.

One of those cool things was the Retro Redux: 24 Hour Game Design Jam, wherein teams of students battled to create the best old-school video game—and Carol’s team ultimately won best game.
