ITP Spring Show Review

by Josh Rubin

In case you only read the feed or just didn't notice the image on the top-right area of the screen, we have a feature review of the ITP Spring Show which took place yesterday and today. Brian Maniere, our developer-now-contributor, attended the show last night and saw some fantastic projects-- interactive fireflies, networked flowers and inflatable clothes just skim the surface. Episode #5079

There’s a plethora of sites on the web that promise cool things, but there’s only one CoolHunting.com. Run by Josh Rubin with pieces by writer Carol Chung, CoolHunting.com investigates the places where technology and design intersect. Started up two years ago, the site garners around 100,000 unique visitors a month.

With all the other blogs on the net promising to deliver cool stuff, does Josh have to compete hard to find cool things? “I don’t feel like I’m competing, because I’m just looking for things I like,” he said.

One of those cool things was the Retro Redux: 24 Hour Game Design Jam, wherein teams of students battled to create the best old-school video game—and Carol’s team ultimately won best game.

AA: The Big Pink Factory

by Josh Rubin

While here in LA I took the opportunity to visit the factory of one of our sponsors, American Apparel. I hope their morals, ethics and practices are a model for big businesses everywhere.

Flight 001 Spacepak

by Josh Rubin

Flight001-Spacepak

Short of vacuum sealing your clothes, there's no better way to make the most of your suitcase than being well organized. Some of us do this naturally, while others can use a little assistance. For the latter Flight 001 has introduced the Spacepak Line of 6 bags to go in your bags.

I flew to LA yesterday and used the Clothes Pak and the Shoe Pak inside my rolling carry-on. In addition to fulfilling their promise of maximizing space, they kept everything nice and neat. The clothes pack has two sides to it-- you start by packing the clean side and as the trip goes on, dirty stuff gets put in the dirty side. Simple and smart.
