Volcano Stadium by Josh Spear

Studio Massaud, clearly have a wonderful imagination. These are computer generated images of a new soccer stadium set to look like a mexican volcano--they won a competition to design this new stadium. Advertisements will be projected on the "cloud" above, which will be made of stretched fabric to protect spectators from the elements. The rest of the stadium will be set inside the volcano shaped hill. Their is a nice interview with the designers at Interior Design.

Cycling attire usually falls in one of two camps: triathlon spandex or rudimentary messenger cut-offs. To fill the void of bicycle apparel that's as stylish as it is utilitarian comes swrve, a small Los Angeles-based company. Their collection of reasonably-priced, American-made clothing has everything from classic wool riding caps to light-weight, water-repellent riding knickers—all constructed with a discerning eye for a contemporary aesthetic. A...

The space age looking portable living cube with stark white epoxy interior was designed by architect Nagasaka Hisashi to be equally at home on a beach, in a forest or inside an industrial loft. Think of it as an upgraded tent, as conceptual in nature as it is...
Geo Birdhouse by Kelly Lamb
by Laura Neilson The birdhouse, most often found outside country cabins and other rurally-situated homes, just got updated for the city. L.A.-based designer Kelly Lamb's new geo birdhouse is a sleek new abode for any urban wren, finch or warbler. Developed throughout the mid-1900s, geodesic domes are most commonly associated with the architect R. Buckminster Fuller, who hoped to popularize them enough to offer a...
Dutch Bike Chicago
While in Chicago last weekend, I had the opportunity to stop by the Dutch Bike Company's brand new Midwestern outpost. Having already wooed Seattlites into adopting the European city bike, founders Stephan Schier and David Schmidt were looking for a second outpost. It turned out that a majority of their special orders were going to Chicago, a city that, under multi-term Mayor Daley's continued green...
