Volcano Stadium by Josh Spear
Studio Massaud, clearly have a wonderful imagination. These are computer generated images of a new soccer stadium set to look like a mexican volcano--they won a competition to design this new stadium. Advertisements will be projected on the "cloud" above, which will be made of stretched fabric to protect spectators from the elements. The rest of the stadium will be set inside the volcano shaped hill. Their is a nice interview with the designers at Interior Design.

Five Ski Sets
We've had a pretty good snow season this year out on the East Coast compared to recent seasons. With the Winter winding down now, I've had a few good months to research, check out and ponder my next ski set as I'm not so sure how much more my current decks can handle. There was a lot of new equipment released this year but...

Three New Stadiums
In the era of starchitecture, few projects pose more of a challenge to renowned architects than the scale and complexity of a city's crown jewel, the stadium. With a few recent stunning examples in the works, we thought we'd take a closer look. Camp Nou Home to one of the biggest fútbol teams in the world, FC Barcelona, Camp Nou is getting a major...

Bloomframe
Bloomframe, a window that turns into a balcony, was widely covered last month for making many an urbanite's dream come true. Designed by Amsterdam architect duo Hofman Dujardin, the prototype window frame opens with the push of a button. Other than the dirt problems posed by using a floor as a wall, the inconvenience of having to set up (and store) furniture and structural...

Superbowl Tailgating
With the Superbowl on Sunday in Miami you can be sure there will be plenty of tailgating going on. The smartest tailgating equipment we've seen, The Vulcan, is a waterproof cooler compartment, incorporating a BBQ grill and three-piece BBQ tool set into a self-contained unit on rolly wheels. The tote also has padded handles, a shoulder strap and a reinforced base. It's available for...

Ski Thing
We're partial to boarding, but if you're a skier check out Ski Thing, a new ski carrier that attaches to your ski boot. It's a very simple design that allows you to place your skis in a small "cup," making walking around with your skis less cumbersome. When you hit the lift you can either remove the Ski Thing from your boot or snap...

The FlowRider on the Freedom of the Seas
When it goes to sea in May of 2006, Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas will be the largest cruise ship in the world. It will serve 3,800 (yes, 3,800) guests and an unknown number of staff to run it. Like RC's other new ships, the Freedom will have a rock climbing wall, an ice skating rink, a spa, shops, and several restaurants. But...
