PS Pictogram Series X Porter Bags

by Carol T Chung

PSPictogramXPorter.jpg
All the recent PSP love makes me swoon with mobile gaming goodness! Check out these PS Pictogram Series X Porter bags put out by Sony. Although I'm not exactly sure what the concept description says, the series have what would appear to be a durable black exterior with a subtle embossed pattern of the PSP iconography. The green lining is nice, but what's really hot are the pockets! As a general rule, pockets just kick ass. And these bags are specifically designed to carry your coveted PSP so that it's safe, snug, and easily accessible where ever your travels may take you.

UPDATE: Here's a translation of the concept statement:

Based on the idea that you want to have the Playstation closer to your body, we decided to build a new brand using these pictograms [...] from here, we'll go forward with more goods that are cool and full of playful spirit. For now, the first example, our proposition to collaborate with Porter.

Thanks Greg!

As promised, Ari Kushnir delivers a full report on last week's Music, Multimedia, Miami conference. Have Lunch in Style

by Ari Bendersky

lunchbag_ari.jpgBuilt NY put out a great wine carrying bag (I have the two bottle ByoBag and I absolutely love it). This year, they may have topped their design with two new products: a six-pack carrying bag and a lunch bag. All of their products are made out of neoprene, so food or beverages stay hot or cold. In addition to acting as an insulator, the neoprene serves as a protective padding to help prevent bottles from breaking. Even better, the lunch bag opens up to act as a placemat.

Steamboy

by Carol T Chung

steamboy.jpg
Director of the anime classic Akira, Katsuhiro Ôtomo's long anticipated Steamboy has hit the theaters. Despite taking place in Victorian England, its themes touch upon the present. Incorporating CGI and cell animation, the themes of industrialization, war, and humanity are woven into a visually stunning story around a young boy named Ray Steam.

OK47

by Josh Spear

OK47, were founded in the spring of 2000, and have quickly evolved from selling just a small set of t-shirts to a full line of mens and women's clothing and accessories. Ironically they operate out of the top floor of a converted sweatshop in Toronto's fashion district--but all of their clothing is consciously made sweatshop free, under an ethical business model. They call themselves deliberate outsiders, the name OK47 derived from the assault rifle, the AK47, carried by revolutionaries worldwide. It's what they call a "surreal contradiction." They prefer to ignore trends and make clothing for people going on their own paths. They have a solid line up of mens shirts and a nice blazer with the interior lining printed up with what looks to be stolen watches pinned inside. For the women they have a lot of very nice skirts and shirts. The art that doesn't make it onto fabrics, becomes available for sale as prints.

Sorapot

by Carol T Chung

JR-Sorapot.jpg
Tea is a very ritualistic pleasure. I still refuse to buy those efficient electric kettles because the process of setting the kettle to boil and the impending urgent whistle are aspects of tea consumption that set my day in motion. Joey Roth's Sorapot embraces the ritualistic aspects of tea drinking with its clear container for viewing the tea leaves as they seep into the water. And, when light shines through, it allows for a tea colored shadow to be cast.
