Motorola SCREEN3
by Josh Rubin
At CTIA last week so much of the attention given to Motorola was regarding their deal with Apple to deliver an iPod phone. This seemed to eclipse the announcement of their new SCREEN3 service, which in my opinion is the next killer cell phone app.
Basically, SCREEN3 is an always-on data service that pushes text and images to the idle screen of your handset. Kind of like the mid 90s screen-saver, Pointcast, SCREEN3 offers news, entertainment, weather and other configurable content that can be consumed passively by watching the idle screen; if you want more details, just click once to get the full story. This is undoubtedly the first appropriately designed experience of internet based content on a mobile phone.
The V551 will be the first handset with SCREEN3 , but be sure many will follow.
365 Days of Photography
by Josh Spear
Miskan--except it's photography based. Photo-blogging is getting bigger and bigger, but making the commitment to really do a photo a day is different. All the photos are from the eyes of a Lebanese Junior Art Director at a local ad agency in Kuwait. The aim of the project is simple, learn more about Kuwait and increase his creativity--while producing some really great work along the way. Each picture has a nice little journal entry with an explanation of the shot.
All that Glitters
by Josh Rubin
Colored contact lenses rarely ever look good. I think that's because they're a failed attempt at a natural looking change. These Dior contact lenses are totally hot because they are nothing but artificial and still offer an elegant enhancement-- the clear lens has a glittery gold flecked outline that skirts the iris.

SNIF Petworking
by Josh Rubin
SNIF, or Social Networking in Fur, is a project from John Maeda's Physical Language Workshop at the MIT Media Lab. The idea is built on the age old notion of petworking-- meeting people through your pets. In their own words: "SNIF presents a hardware/software architecture that aims to capture pet social networks and other pet-related information as pets and their owners explore their communities."
Unfortunately, Otis and Logan are a bit leash aggressive so I don't think this is something that would help our social lives very much. But it's a fascinating concept none the less. Check out a scenario after the jump.
