Ascenders/Decenders

by Josh Spear

If you're in Chicago and are a fan of graphic design and typography--I'd head over to the Foundation Gallery to check out their latest exhibition called Ascenders/Descenders. I wish I could go and check it out. The exhibition draws together a collection of artists whose work is influenced by typographic elements--understanding typography as more than just a tool, but as a form of expression. It will feature work by Robin Cameron, Lukas Geronimas, Ben Loiz, and Sighn. Foundation Gallery is located in the River West district at 700 North Carpenter Street.

The Glade

by Josh Rubin

The-Glade Logo
I've had much love and respect for Beinghunted for many years now. They always deliver fresh and exciting stories on art, design and fashion-- one of my regular reads. Their latest venture is The Glade, an eCommerce extension of what Beinghunted is all about. They not only offer an overview of the latest merchandise that the best brands and stores on the planet have to offer, but also let you buy the stuff!

As a product focused web site, I've certainly had this idea as well-- sell the stuff I write about and make some extra cash. Maybe one day I'll do it, but in the mean time The Glade is here with the goods.

Los Angeles based designers Michael and Laura Leon of Stacks, have released their spring line of T-Shirts. They work on the idea that t-shirts can be used as simple conversation pieces, even valued as precious souvenirs. Their conversation edition spring T's are simple, original and thoughtful.

Wooster Mobile

by Josh Spear

Wooster Collective has just launched "Wooster Mobile", a gallery of images for mobile phones wallpapers from artists featured on the Wooster Collective site. The project provides artists with a new market, as well as royalties for every download of their work. All the additional revenue is being donated to the charity-- Keep A Child Alive. I'm not generally a big mobile marketing fan, but the art is original and the cause is just. This first series includes artists like Spazmat, Flowergu, Rotgut, and many more.
