Mill City Museum—Minneapolis
Mill City Museum, one of downtown Minneapolis's latest architectural achievements. Rather than completely erase the existence of the former flour-processing plant that was destroyed by fire in 1991, the new museum was constructed within the remaining outer walls, now jagged and ragged but still intact. The Mill City Museum, designed by local firm Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, is constructed of ground-to-rooftop windows and steel beams...

20.21 at the Walker Art Museum
Heading to Minneapolis? Check out 20.21, the recently opened Wolfgang Puck restaurant in the Walker Art Museum. Similar to the successful pairing of Danny Meyer and the MoMa (where The Modern shines as brightly as the building and the art), Puck has collaborated on the food for the Museum’s restaurant and café. Chef Scott Irestone’s (Photo credit: Tom Wallace, Star Tribune, 2005) menu is...

BICA is beyond Brooklyn
The Brooklyn Institute of Contemporary Art's branding goes, "Beyond Boundaries" and last Thursday's opening event (called "Living for the City") proved no exception to that. It was totally refreshing to see art works from all over the globe (literally) and such a diverse crowd of people chilling (sweating actually - no A/C!) and checking out young, old, emerging, and veteran painters, photographers, sculptors, and...

Cai Guo-Qiang: Inopportune
The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art Commissioned New York based artist Cai Guo-Qiang to create a work expressing his view on the current state of global affairs. The result is Inopportune, a four stage installation, an eerie dream of dazzling lights and ghostly cars, tigers and arrows, explosions and stillness. These images are of Stage One, the brilliant centerpiece of the show. Nine cars...

Chichu Art Museum
I haven't had the pleasure of traveling to Japan yet, but very soon I'll be going on a cool hunting adventure there-- and I don't know if I'll ever return! One place I must stop as I'm on tour around Japan is The Chichu Art Museum. It's only accessible by boat, and Tadao Ando designed it to be completely built into the ground and...

Escape Lab Travel Album
Words can't explain how very, very, cool the Escape Travel Album is. I know nothing about who is behind this, or where the pictures are from, but damn is it impressive-- and a lot of fun to look through. It offers 3D, 2D, and plain flat interface navigation through dozens of destinations around the globe with high quality photos from each. Taking a screen...
