Tissue Ring by Ari Bendersky
Apartment Therapy, I had to see what other great designs Vessel thought up.
And whaddaya know they shocked the hell out of me with simplicity. The Tissue Ring, a stainless steel hoop that lies atop a stack of Kleenex eliminating the need for a tacky box or a generic package with flowers or angels on it.
The first time I placed it on my stack, I was dubious: would the next tissue actually pop up? You know what? It did.

Plastic Logic Reader
Still one year out of consumer reach, the Plastic Logic reader is already being touted by some sources as the Kindle killer. At this week's Tools of Change for Publishing Conference in New York, I had a chance to see the reader prototype in action and get my hands on one, albeit briefly. With a form factor equivalent to that of a legal-size pad of...

Simplehuman Single Cup Pod Brewer
Simplehuman, makers of well designed things for the kitchen and laundry room, have just launched their first kitchen appliance: The Single Cup Pod Brewer. Water is heated to 200º (considered optimal by many baristas) and forced through the single use coffee pods, which are widely available from most coffee suppliers. The brewer is best for a cup in the morning at home or to...

Hands on: My Beating Heart
My Beating Heart, the pillow with a beat, made it's way around various web sites last week when it was first announced. We got our hands on one to take a closer look... Off The Wall
Technologically speaking, the "On/Off Switch" by Tobias Wong may not be as advanced as its kitschy precursor The Clapper, but it's surely a hell of a lot classier. Wong has emancipated the familiar lightswitch from its predictable position on the wall, encased it in lucite and placed it literally in the palm of your hand. Essentially a remote control for home lighting, this wireless...

City Kitty
I don't have a cat and probably never will, but if I did a CitiKitty mine would be. Invented by Rebecca Rescate and her husband when they moved in to a small NYC apartment, the training starts as a litter box placed on the toilet seat. Over time you remove the inner rings, reducing the amount of litter used and teaching the cat to...
