Mill City Museum—Minneapolis by Ari Bendersky
Mill City Museum, one of downtown Minneapolis's latest architectural achievements. Rather than completely erase the existence of the former flour-processing plant that was destroyed by fire in 1991, the new museum was constructed within the remaining outer walls, now jagged and ragged but still intact. The Mill City Museum, designed by local firm Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, is constructed of ground-to-rooftop windows and steel beams and pays homage to the grain industry that once ruled in the northern city through interactive multimedia exhibits. For something really special, trek to the rooftop observation deck for sweeping views of the adjacent Mississippi River.

20.21 at the Walker Art Museum
Heading to Minneapolis? Check out 20.21, the recently opened Wolfgang Puck restaurant in the Walker Art Museum. Similar to the successful pairing of Danny Meyer and the MoMa (where The Modern shines as brightly as the building and the art), Puck has collaborated on the food for the Museum’s restaurant and café. Chef Scott Irestone’s (Photo credit: Tom Wallace, Star Tribune, 2005) menu is...

Chichu Art Museum
I haven't had the pleasure of traveling to Japan yet, but very soon I'll be going on a cool hunting adventure there-- and I don't know if I'll ever return! One place I must stop as I'm on tour around Japan is The Chichu Art Museum. It's only accessible by boat, and Tadao Ando designed it to be completely built into the ground and...

Contemporary Art Museum: Niteroi, Rio, Brazil
Oscar Niemeyer is undoubtedly Brazil's most influential modern architect. I was only able to see a small sampling of his work, but was blown away by the Contemporary Art Museum in Niteroi (outside of Rio). This Jetson's fabulous structure looks like progressive 50's Modern, but was actually completed in 1996. Especially genius is how the alien structure harmonizes with surrounding nature. Check out the...

JetBlue Story Booth
In order to tell the story of US domestic airline carrier JetBlue in a forthcoming web and tv campaign, JWT (their ad firm) decided to look to JetBlue passengers for content. New York based Mesh Architecture was tapped to create the physical Story Booth and Local Projects created the interactive experience inside the booth. The way it works is simple—walk in, tell your story...
