Ludwika Ogorzelec by Josh Rubin

Ludwika Ogorzelec's latest installation of the "Space Crystallization" cycle is up for a few more days at the Nancy Margolis Gallery in New York. This lattice of stretchy plastic is meticulously woven inside and outside the gallery to create a beautiful bio-technical form. Jutting out from the side of the building, it's impossible to miss when walking by or driving down the street. You're confronted with the piece even more aggressively when you enter the gallery-- it hangs down to about 5 feet above the floor, requiring a crouch and shuffle just to get in the gallery.

More pictures after the jump.

Dukes of Hazardous Unabomber
In New York this weekend? Don't miss this fascinating installation at Rare Gallery through Saturday. Chris Larson's massive sculpture, entitled PAUSE, is a full-size representation of the Dukes of Hazzard '69 Dodge Charger crashing into the Unabomber's cabin -- two metaphors for lawlessness converging in time and space and providing at least one interpretation of today's geopolitical climate. Rare Gallery 521 West 26th Street...
Tamara Kostianovsky: Actus Reus
"Actus Reus" is the debut solo exhibition of Tamara Kostianovsky, an Israeli artist raised in Argentina and currently living in Brooklyn. The show consists of life-sized animal carcasses painstakingly reconstructed using second-hand clothing, which are all former pieces from the artist's actual wardrobe. The patchwork constructions adopt a remarkably grotesque quality, hanging from meat hooks in an antiseptic gallery space. The exhibition's Latin title...
Judith Supine: Dirt Mansion
Opened last Friday,12 April 2008, "Dirt Mansion" at English Kills Art Gallery in Brooklyn is Judith Supine's second show in the New York City area—unless of course you are counting his numerous pieces pasted up throughout the city. Large installations consisting of his dramatic 20 foot high wooden puppet characters fill the maze-like warehouse space. Glossy psychedelic imagery and bright florals and figures set...
