Cool Hunting
About 6 years ago I had the chance to tour a certain technology company's research and development lab. Among the more refined demos was a TV console and video camera set up that immersed the viewer in an artificial environment where they could interact with things floating on the screen.
This week, Hasbro announced its foray into the educational gaming market with the ION gaming console. The games are based on the above described interaction and the console will sell for $199 (starting this Fall). Hasbro is not the leader in this space-- Mattel and Sony, among others, have been there for awhile, but maybe they'll take it main stream.
I hope these games do become popular. Similar to Dance Dance Revolution, they get kids with perpetual sugar highs off their increasingly larger butts-- subversively.
