adidas Perfection
by Josh Spear
Santa Monica based visual effects studio Method has a new adidas advertisement up. They have done work for Audi, Microsoft, Direct TV and some other impressive clients. This advertisement is entitled "Perfection" and is totally brilliant and worth a watch or two.
Puma + Vexed = Urban Mobility
by Josh Rubin
Puma and Vexed Generation will be releasing the second season of their collaboration, Urban Mobility. The line is designed to target the needs of the urban rider by delivering adaptable performance-wear that fuses cutting edge styling with highly technical designs. Yeah, it does that very well-- having the opportunity to sport a couple samples around town, I have to say the pieces move great and are quite the head turners.
The Protective Jacket is my favorite from the collection. It's a waterproof and breathable shell that features open chest and sleeve vents, coated water repellent zips, external seam coverage, and expansion panels in the arms and sides. The jacket has a sleek, slim-fitting profile that's reminiscent of the days when Prada was good. Keep an eye on your local Puma store; when this stuff drops it's going to go fast!
Google Maps
by Josh Rubin
In case you missed it, all the buzz in the Blogsphere is Google's hot new mapping service. Google Maps brings all the simplicity, convenience and elegance we've come to expect from their products. The pan and zoom interface redraws quickly and the different search methods are task oriented and logical. Here's a product tour if you'd prefer to learn more before jumping in.
Le Lynx Titanium Vibrator
by Carol T Chung
Calling all top secret pleasure agents... The Le Lynx Titanium Vibrator comes with 3 different attachments. Each has a different speed and texture to combat the most difficult foes. It comes in a chrome case with a velvet lining and a key to lock up! Oh, and it's also waterproof and dishwasher safe!
Chris Beckman Paints for Polo
by Josh Rubin
Chris Beckman has moved from the canvas to denim in a new series of work for Polo Jeans Co. A limited edition of 600 hand painted jeans, inspired by Chris's work, will be sold to help promote the denim company's GIVE (Get Involved. Volunteer. Exceed.) program to encourage community service.
I was skeptical of how good these would look, but given the opportunity to inspect them more closely I was pleasantly surprised. Though intentionally applied, the painting appears random and natural-- like I had locked myself in the studio for a week, obsessively painting without changing my clothes. The cut, Townshend, is quite good as well-- they're good butt jeans!
Brazilian Girls Do it Better
by Ari Bendersky
Brazilian Girls are turning the dance music world on its head.
Fronted by the sultry Sabina Scuibba, Brazilian Girls sounds like Shirley Bassey, Grace Jones and Los Amigos Invisibles at an outdoor reggae fest. While their name suggests Rio, the group actually hails from Brooklyn. Scuibba, born in Italy and raised in Nice and Munich, moved to New York, met the three guys in Brazilian Girls and the foursome took the downtown scene at Nublu by storm.
Their self-titled debut on Verve Records hit streets on Feb. 1 and theyre on tour now.
Check out samples of all their tracks.
Froehlich's Pickled Green Pear Tomatoes
by Evan Orensten
Froehlich's, a small store in Three Oaks Michigan. Most everything they make is from their own gardens, and if you happen to be in the 'hood stop by for some of the best bread around.
Furniture and Naked People
by Josh Spear
Designer furniture and naked people. What more could you ask for? The Modernist has a growing collection of bare women paired with modern furniture. Soft-core porn for the modern furniture enthusiast. I swear I look at these just for the great collection of Eames furniture featured in every shot! The series is ongoing, and they're taking submissions.
The Box Doodle Project
by Josh Spear
The box doodle project rules are simple-- Rearrange a box to make any kind of figure or object--make the most of the least. A really simple concept with some really great work by independent artists just like you and I. They have a few pages of fun submissions, as well as a cute flash based box doodle tool where you can create your own box online instead of with real materials. What can you do with a shoe box and a few markers?
