Cool Hunting
Just when I start to become the slightest bit jaded about the whole collaboration - quick strike - limited edition thing, something new and exciting surfaces to restore my faith. This time it's a hot little 3 way: Nike, Kidrobot and Barney's. Both colorways have a finish that makes them look like they're straight off a vinyl doll. Details after the jump.
Based on the classic 1987 running shoe, Kidrobot and Nike have produced two seperate limited edition Air Max One running shoes in Black/Gold and Pink/Red. Each style was specifically designed to match the exterior of Kidrobot's pink and gold 1986 Maserati Quattroporte III Royale.
Designed by Paul Budnitz & Chad Phillips, both styles feature gum rubber soles and a heat-embossed Kidrobot logo on the heel. Each pair comes in a custom gold and pink drawer-style collector's box and includes a special limited edition mini Kidrobot keychain that matches the shoe!
As if that wasn't enough, each shoe includes one of five blind-chase sockliners packed in an opaque foil Kidrobot-embossed bag. Each customer will get just one of five sockliners created by artists Gary Baseman, Dalek, David Horvath, Huck Gee, or Frank Kozik.
Only 250 pairs of the Black edition and 48 pairs of the Pink edition have been produced.
Black Kidrobot x Nike Air Max One's will be for sale ONLY in Barney's, New York on Febraury 11, 2005. So get up early!
The Pink Kidrobot x Nike Air Max One's are super-limited Quick Strike edition and is "officially" not for sale. The key word here is "officially". If you spot Paul driving around town try banging on the window, he may have a pair in your size hidden in the trunk.

Everyone's favorite dueling spy duo, Spy vs. Spy, are making their way from the pages of Mad Magazine onto a new limited edition sneaker. Inspired by the classic comic, Puma and Boston-based boutique Bodega got together to create a special shoe based on Puma's classic Sky II Hi silhouette, aptly named the Spy II Hi. Made of premium leather, I especially like the translucent...
DKNY Active Shoes and Semi Precious Weapons frontman/Fetty of Brooklyn jewelry designer Justin Tranter have joined forces to create a limited-edition sneaker. Evoking garage glam spirit of the band and Fetty, the shoes have an upper made of Ballistic Nylon, originally intended for military use and elastic laces with gold-tone aglets and feature removable Fetty "New York Rock" and heart charm hanging from the...
The folks responsible for starting the whole limited-edition trend are at it again with the Nike Be True City Collection. Continuing to torture their customers with skinny releases, only be 86 pairs of each color will be available in seven select cities—New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Rio de Janiero. After that you're gonna have to comb eBay. I haven't...

For the second time, Nike has brought a sneaker to commemorate a Sony Playstation console (the first pair were Playstation Air Force Ones). Like the One Time Only pack, these are a hybrid of Air Max 90s on a 360 sole, and come complete with a 3M reflective hologram Swoosh. Only 24 pairs have been made to mark the launch of the PS3. via...
With British t-shirt company T-Book's tessellating expressions of love and the German Puma designer Peter Schmid's high and low-tops, these may be the most romantic kicks out there. Laser-burnt with T-Book's clever, M.C. Escher-esque "Don't Kiss Goodbye" (pictured left, click either image for detail) or with their "I Love You" repeating script pattern (pictured right), the process takes about an hour for each pair....
