Hayat Benchenaa Radio Alarm Clock by Carol T Chung

HBenchenaa-RadioAlarmClock.jpgHayat Benchenaa, where have you been all my life?? Hayat has created a radio alarm clock that puts my four devices to shame. This is how it works. When the alrarm is set the Sfera dims and the music fades as you fall asleep. When it goes off in the morning, you have to reach up and tap it to activate the snooze. Then the Sfera rises and after 10 minutes goes off again, which causes you to rise up out of bed even more to activate the snooze. This process is repeated until the Sfera reaches the ceiling, which forces you to get up and pull it down to deactivate it.

Kelly Dobson's Blendie
I know I wasn't the only kid humming along with the household appliances trying to find the right harmony to make my head vibrate. Right? Blendie is part of her series called Machine Therapy which was undoubtedly influenced by her childhood spent...

The student work presented will include interactive art and sound, assistive technology, wireless devices and physical installations. ITP is a fantastic program that pushes the boundaries of technology mediated interactive experiences. It's also near and dear because some of us here at CH (myself included) graduated from there or...
Peyton's Podcast
Our friend Svenja noticed in this week's episode of the WB's 'One Tree Hill' that Peyton, one of the main characters, recorded her thoughts on a podcast. In the show's credits, after the usual 'songs you heard in this episode' promotion, viewers were invited to link to iTunes. There, as this week's feature, you can subscribe to a season of Peyton's teen angst. We'll...
PAL Fashion Colors
By now we've all seen Tivoli's iPAL, the portable iPod amp with an AM/FM radio and decent sound. Up until now most have come in white versions that match the hegemonic look of their counterparts. For Summer, Tivoli intoduces the PAL Fashion Colors, a series of four different shades that coordinate well with beachwear. Also, look out for the iSongbook in Fall, another portable...
