Toyota Z-Capsule
by Josh Rubin
Treehugger about Toyota's continued push for environmentally friendly transportation. The hybrid car manufacturer will be testing a new lower impact, mass transit scheme this March in Japan. The Z-Capsule bus runs on a low-emission, compressed natural gas engine. But to further minimize impact, they will run on an Intelligent Multimode Transport System (ITMS) that will automatically adjust schedules and route based on rider demand. Oh yeah, these things can operate without drivers as well!
Vase of Phases
by Carol T Chung
Studio Dror's Vase of Phases will be available to the public this coming February. The design company Rosenthal is producing and distributing the vase. Its debut will be at the Ambiente trade show in Frankfurt, Germany and will be available for purchase through Rosenthal as well as other retailers. Before the porcelain vase is shattered, it's protected in the interior with rubber so that the pieces retain the shape of impact. Then it's redipped in procelain. They will come in both black and white and will be available in three sizes. The smallest with a height of 8.5in and a diameter of 5in. The largest with a height of 11.5in and 7in in diameter. Urbanites everywhere will surely appreciate this defiled concept of purity.
Update 1.22
Some readers pointed out another vase that uses a similar concept: the Do Break Vase. This vase allows you to break it yourself, over and over and over again. Imitation, coincidence?--you be the judge. The difference is in the details. We like both!

Scott Wotherspoon
by Carol T Chung
There was this other beautiful illustration of birds that Scott Wotherspoon did for the Balcony Jump Artists identity that I considered putting up, but I just couldn't help myself. Deviance should never be dished out in moderation! Anyway, other than having a really cool last name, Scott is an illustrator based in lovely London whose personal and commercial work is light, clean, and playful. Plus he's done an illustration of robots. Everyone loves robots, right??
The 2 Headed Dog
by Josh Rubin
the2headeddog.com. Some are speculating it's an MTV2 relaunch. Makes sense.
Thanks, Josh for the sleuthing assist.
