Zissou Progress

by Josh Rubin

Inside-Lifeaquatic

Looks like despite Gawker's disapproval, our this piece in today's USA Today.

And by the way, I've just launched a press section for those who are interested.

Tokyo G-Cans

by Josh Rubin

Tokyo Gcans

Sorry my Japanese is a little rusty, otherwise I’d give us all a full translation of the site. However I do know these captivating photos are indeed of Tokyo’s G-Cans Project-- an underground water draining system to help prevent the overflow of major waterways during the wet typhoon season. Just seeing the sheer size and design of this construction through these photos, which almost look illustrated, is amazing. I can only imagine what construction and upkeep of such an immense and interesting system like this must be like. It's also a free tourist attraction, presumably only during the dry season. --Josh Spear

Dropload

Drop-Parachute-Large
The recipient’s mailbox is full. Doh! How many times have we all seen that message? Many email providers are starting to increase the amount of space they offer but too many people who haven’t made the shift still suffer from eClaustrophobia--aka no space to easily exchange large files. Dropload offers users a place to drop files for anyone with an email address to pick up and download with instructions. The files stay available in their system up to 7 days and can be as large as 100MB. --Josh Spear

Onitsuka Tiger Tai-Chi CSS Exclusive

by Josh Rubin

Classicsportshoes 1826 12534688

Remember the yellow and black Tai-Chi Onistuka Tigers worn in Kill Bill 1? Only 1,500 were produced and Classic Sport Shoes was responsible for selling most of them. After much pleading, Classic Sport Shoes has gotten Tiger to do an exclusive production run on another batch of the yellow and black Tai-Chi CSS sneakers. They will be getting the shoes in June, and are taking pre-orders now.

USA Today: Steve Zissou's Cool Shoes Prove Tough to Fill

by Josh Rubin

Usa-Today-Logo Press

Josh Rubin, 30, a New York-based software designer who blogs about eye-catching products on his site Cool Hunting (coolhunting.com), was quite taken with the unique sneak. "I liked the color combination — or 'colorway,' as it is called in sneaker design," he says.

But just like The Life Aquatic's spotted shark, the Zissou shoe doesn't exist in the real world. But that hasn't stopped the Web set from launching a petition with nearly 600 names and e-mailing consumer.relations@adidasus.com.
