Cool Hunting

10 x 10 by Josh Rubin

10By10
Another creative approach to data visualization, Jonathan Harris' 10 x 10 is an interactive exploration of the words and pictures that define the time. The grid is updated every hour with the 100 most relevant words and images based on the headlines and leading photos from the worlds primary on-line news sources. Every hour is archived and a 10 x 10 summary is also created for each day, month and year. In a sense, the project is a series of beautiful historical flash cards.

Thanks, Justin.

The New York Times Magazine Redesign
A little over a week ago on 14 June 2009 one of my favorite magazines, The New York Times Magazine, quietly unveiled a new design and format in an effort to cut costs and waste (there were two artist designed covers for the 14 June issue, shown above). Announced in that issue's editor's letter by Gerald Marzorati, I'm surprised how under the radar it...
Analog and Digital Collide in a Burst of Text and LEDs at the ITP Spring 2009 Show

With every show there seems to be an emergent theme—this year's collision of analog and digital isn't unprecedented, but does deliver new interpretations to get excited about. AL-gorithm, by Alex Kauffmann Alex Kauffmann, the artist behind AL-gorithm,...

Sapphire glass backing supports the framework for the watch, which features 7755 S caliber movement, an evolution of the reputable 7750 movement...
Best Magazine Design Finalists
The impending fear of the end for print magazines seems to have only inspired publishers to prove everyone wrong by refining and, at times, redesigning their pages. This year's finalists for best magazine design, announced by the Society of Publication Designers—or SPD— are some of the best we've seen. While some of the usual suspects were rightfully chosen—like Wired, W, GQ and Dwell—the SPD's...
