Upoc Networks Sends Over a Million Text Messages During In-Venue Mobile Promotions in Less Than a Year
Hits Major Milestone For Its In-Venue Mobile Text and Picture Messaging Promotions
New York, NY August 17, 2004
Upoc Networks ( http://www.upocnetworks.com ), a leading mobile data services provider, announced today that consumers have sent over a million text messages using its system in the past year during in-venue mobile promotions at sports and music events. Upoc Networks creates arena sized mobile messaging events that reach consumers via text messaging, and allow attendees to interact with client-branded mobile content such as polls, quizzes, and sweepstakes. These text and picture messaging stadium events have exposed millions of attendees to advanced mobile data services.
Upoc Networks has become the acknowledged leader in delivering these campaigns:
- Over 400 individual events mobilized to date (sporting matches, concerts, and festivals)
- Up to 80% response rates to features like quizzes and polls-two and a half times higher than other mobile messaging promotions - Produced at major music venues and in every major sports league
Some highlights from the past year have included mobile programs engaging attendees at the NY Giants, Buffalo Bills, Oakland A’s, Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, Miami Dolphins, and the tours of such bands as JET, Puddle of Mudd, and Maroon 5.
The programs attract an even split of male and female participants, covering a wide range of ages, demonstrating that mobile messaging is not just a teen phenomenon.
“We have exposed millions of people to the power of mobile messaging campaigns,” said Upoc Networks CEO David Friedensohn. “While the Alanis Morrissette concert or Giants game is on, our audience signs on to receive information and games with the only device currently enable to provide this entertainment: the cell phone. And after the event is over, the audience is still linked into the community developed by the fans at these stadiums. The sponsor is happy since they can continue to cultivate relationships with their consumer, the sports teams and music labels are happy since the connection with the fan is persistent, and most importantly the fans are happy since we deliver information about the things they want. We are the leader in creating permanent mobile communities around sports teams and music stars that our clients can reach again and again.”
The million text messages generated to date through these grassroots programs are part of the roughly 700 million messages sent through Upoc Networks’ system in the past year, demonstrating the market leadership of this mobile data services company.
