Peppot Camera by Josh Rubin
If you didn't know already, I'm infatuated with my dogs. I would totally use the Peppot, a camera from Matsushita Electric Works that sends a picture message to your cell phone whenever your dog enters the scene. Of course, it wouldn't be hard to make one of these with a web cam and a motion detector, but I'm not that obsessed.

The jury is still out on whether this thing is good or evil, but any way you look at it, it's pretty outrageous. The PETaPOTTY is the doggy equivalent of a kitty litter. It's basically a box of grass with drainage. Be sure to check out the video on their site-- complete with a Greyhound giving a full demo. $235 at Hamptons Hound...

An Electronic Tag for the Peripatetic Pet, published recently in the New York Times, provides a nice overview of the benefits of microchipping your dog (or cat). It sounds a bit creepy, but the benefits are worth it. It does remind me, however, of the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System that was oh so hyped in the 80s....
